Such infamy and underhanded tactics! I can no longer remain silent but must needs put myself forward as a true servant of the people of Rome. Assign me any task you will that best serves the people of our august republic. My way of bringing a pompous populous oriented character into the mix.

What gibberish is this, it is unbecoming a Consul to be swearing in foreign languages.

Oh yes, the Xth , after a 2 days long battle has defeated the Albigrodes warband, although the cost in Romans was high
23/33 Romans
to 47/45 Gauls
per the medicos.
Their warchief , who cunningly ambushed us in a double envelopement, did escape, no doudt we'll see him again.

Dont forget to put some laurels ( ie points) on my statue in Rome .

Fellow senators!

I speak to you in hopes of granting you more insight to the present situation at Rome. The streets are filled with chaos, barbarians are literally at our gates, our most esteemed generals have failed on all fronts. This is because of the new winds that have been blowing through Rome. Vote for batesmotel and I, representatives of the Aristocrat party. Our time honored traditions will bring the victory of the olden days back to Rome. You have seen our competitors, ericdoman1 and Fedem. Frankly, it seems to me that Fedem is merely a servant of ericdoman1, and he on the other hand has lost much of his skill with the greying of his hair. Indeed, in decades past, he has defended Rome most successfully against all foes, but I fear wine has addled his mind and women have taken his attention. He would be better suited in enjoying his last days in a state sponsored retirement mansion in the more peaceful provinces, not leading glorious Rome. We need a stalwart front against all threats, and what better wall to defend us than batesmotel and I?

Cast your vote for us, then, and we will see that Rome will not fall any further than it already has.

While Senator Tiavals does remind me of a Northern barbarian at least batesmotel is from a good family. We would be wise to support them in Rome's time of need.

Tiavals, my gestures, little stories and the various small pleasure I partake in are predomaintly all based around a sort of tongue in cheek. Rather than it seems your nose in the cheek of your masters.

My position would not be a permanent one. What my good friend TGM and I have to offer, is experience, wisdom. You can not buy that. We will help teach and give guidance to the young Republicans. A guidance that again can not be learnt from manuals or books. This experience will be of huge importance to making Rome even greater.

Once we deem that it is time to retire we will do so. Remember we were both in retirement but answered Rome's call immediately and would do so again if we are needed.

Fedem a servant you say. A servant who actually defeated me in our trainings sessions and who comes back from Pont victorious. I believe an apology is in order. For Rome to be great we need great military leaders and Fedem has already proven that he has what it takes to become one. Not only Fedem but Burinus, Tophat and Turk are our future and we will guide them well. We are where we are today due to the battles we have won and you had better not forget that. Lest you might need our support if you do not appease your masters.

Ha! The Bates are a good family alright. Models of mental health. Let's just forget about Norman and his mummy mommy and the unnatural interest in taxidermy ....

See how the great wolf has been defanged! ericdoman1 may have been a great general once, but to be defeated by an upstart like Fedem? A sad state of affairs. Your much vaunted wisdom and experience did not seem to help you against him. What you call wisdom, I call foolishness. Your claims of retiring when it is your time seem most suspicious. You call your position a temporary one and that you have been called out from retirement, yet still you aim to become a head of the senate? Do not forget the tyrants of old who made similar claims, but when it was their time to step down, they clutched their position like an eagle clutches a pigeon. It seems you already have a cadre of loyal, personal servants. Is this not already a sign of a corrupt leader? On the other hand, the esteemed batesmotel has been born to power and has known leadership for decades. See how he does not let his personal needs dissuade him from the betterment of Rome.

Do not be blinded by the claims of glorious past. A has been, that is what ericdoman1 is. Once a shining star, now a mere candle, a sheep among wolves. He did not even win against the Pontic threat, yet he still claims to have experience and skill. The facts speak for themselves. Once the Aristocrats hold power, we will take care of Mithradates and his lackeys.

Speaking as the all-purpose Barbarian in this tournament, I'd have to say that the line of Norman Bates represents the final degeneracy of Rome. Don't be fooled by the grandeur of his ancestral seat, the stately Bates Motel. He's the original Psycho! Remember what happened to Janet Leigh, Romans! Elect him and your blood will swirl down the drain just like hers.

I retire now, mute, to the darkness of Gaul.

We see now who the Barbarians truly fear. Let those who would see the power and glory of Rome continue to increase consider this when they prepare to cast their votes!

Fine words indeed good ericdoman1,myself and others value wisdom and experience in a leader. And a proven and wise leader of Rome you would be. Even though it seems i come too late to aid you in the field against our nations foes allow me to pledge myself as a loyal supporter of your cause.

Tophat, good man

TGM. Well done that man. A very good victory.

TJD - Well I can see by your words, although they are a bit strange, you are trying to regain some pride from not allowing me the right to battle once more. The damage has been done, no sweet talk or pointing the finger at others will make a blind bit of difference. Unless it is a sham. Trying to pretend to make amends so as to mislead us few towards the clear as day prejudice, you have for the Republicans. Even so, your words do make me afraid about your health. I will send a few of my physicians around immediately. Hopefully this time they will cure somebody rather than sending them away to some mental institution.

People of Rome,

Instead of criticism against others; that seems to be the only tools the Aristocrat Party has; specially the dubious Tiavals; we the Republicans hava a programme.
We know what must be done.
A) On retirement our Legionaries are going to receive lands on our provinces. Specially the ones fruit of our future conquests.
B) We will secure our wheat supplies. Pirates are still around and we can not allow that. A special eye must be placed on the wheat storage. We must avoid famine on our people.
C) Secure our streets. A new group of militia should be formed to guarantee the safety of our citizens.
D) Voice to the tribunes of the people. The plebeians must be heard so their lives also could improve. We see that this could balance the actual power that the patricians have.

And that is only the beggining. Our doors are open to those ones who bring good ideas and to those who wants to work for our beloved Republic. Together we can bring our past glory to the future.

Ericus experience and honor and my willingness can do that. Join us!!!!

Hail Fedem

I applaud thee.

The way you are carrying on my young apprentice, I will be your pupil and retirement will beckon.

Oh yes it seems that I have also been accused of drinking too much wine. As it is well know. I have not had a touch of the wonderful, exotic, taste budding sensation, for (how long), "Two weeks, two bloody weeks!"

By the Gods, if I can do something like that, a miracle of Aesopian proportion, well people of Rome, fellow senators, consuls and so forth. That proves to everybody who knows me, what levels of sacrifice I am willing to offer for the benefit of Rome.

Look at me as a fatherly figure, nurturing you into ways that will make Rome, greater.

When it is time for me to retire I will do so and then my sons and daughters, not only my birthright sons and daughters will bring power to Rome.

Can somebody write a book on this.

Really really good stuff.

Although judging by the posts so far and we are probably only a little way into this campaign. It could be a trilogy.
