In the rules irregular light cavalry are always skirmishers. I assume that the standard practice would be 2 figures per base instead of the usual 3 figures per base for regular cavalry.
However, as I can't see any equivalent statement for irregular light infantry, I assume that they have the same formation options as regular light infantry (i.e., in the "skirmisher plus support" formation of 2 close order bases and 2 skirmisher bases or entirely in skirmish order). However, I just can't bring myself to have a Spanish Guerilla light infantry unit with 2 bases of nicely ordered "supports" of 2 bases of 8 figures each. I think I might go with 2 bases of fewer figures but more than a skirmisher base (i.e., 5-6 figures) in an irregular mob.
However it just might be that I missed something and that irregular light infantry are always and only skirmish formation. Yes / no?

In the Main list books all Spanish Guerillas are classified as lightinfantry/irreguls/skirmishers. For the main lists we introduced the 'special capability' of "skirmishers" - which means that there are a few troops types (irregular grenzers for example) that can only ever operate in open order. So - you should base all of your guerillas up 3 or 4 to a base. (or whatever you think looks best!)However, as I can't see any equivalent statement for irregular light infantry, I assume that they have the same formation options as regular light infantry (i.e., in the "skirmisher plus support" formation of 2 close order bases and 2 skirmisher bases or entirely in skirmish order). Thanks, Terry. You and Mike have been most helpful answering everyone's questions.terrys wrote:YesIn the rules irregular light cavalry are always skirmishers. I assume that the standard practice would be 2 figures per base instead of the usual 3 figures per base for regular cavalry.

Irregular infantry are not always in open order - unless their army lists specifies it.Code: Select all
