I was able to issue a challenge from sealion using "On the beaches" scenario in multiplayer. I didn't tried until now to play a mission in single player. And I didn't bought any expansion.
Below is what I have on my bill from Apple.

i have deleted ba from my ipad, downloaded and installed again and now i'm asked to pay for the addons (i was prepared to pay for them anyway but hoped this would resolve the multiplayer custom maps issues).....i have a feeling that the initial ba downloads are a different version to the version that i have now, or a bug in the game???...unfortuntaly i'm still unable to play many custom maps

Custom multiplayer maps so far that don't work are:

1. Villers Bretonneux

2. Cambrian 1917 campaign:
all maps included in this campaign

3. Maps by insidious :

We've found a bug that on iPad, custom multiplayer maps dont work so have fixed it but need to roll out an update to get that updated. For now, dont try and play them. It seems to be ok continuing them on iPad, so if you started them on PC/Mac you can continue to iPad but not start them. We want to look at a few other things while we do this. Phil is looking to add Retina support for iPad3 as well. We hope to have this all ready in a few days and then send it back to Apple.

On the inapp purchase, there is only one version in the store so no idea why it allowed you to play without unlocking or why it reverted when you installed it again.

I like this iPad version of BA, but have two questions:

A. How do I get to the "in-app" purchases? I've been trying to buy the Market Garden campaign, but only get the "waiting" message.

B. Where/how can I get the user-designed stuff (eg Cambrai) for iPad BA?

Sorry you are having problems Mike. Can you check you are connected to the internet before making an in app purchase.

The user content is accessible via the campaign selection screen. Click the folder icon at the top to open up all the user content.

I can confirm that I am connected to the internet when I try, but as noted above I get only the "waiting" message. All other internet-related apps are working OK.

The user content is also completely empty. Seems that somehow my version of iPad BA isn't talking to the internet?

I can't think what would cause that. Could your wireless router be blocking the traffic? The user content list would only be empty if you had downloaded every pack, which I assume you have not. The content list download is just a simple HTTP transaction.

I assume you haven't tried to play multiplayer?

Hello Pip,

I have tried multiplayer, and that does let me log in to the Slitherine site.

However I've just deleted & reinstalled BA, and am facing the same problems as before. Can't access either in-app purchases or user content.

I don't think it's the router, I've tried two (including my home FIOS connection), both show the same problems, yet both have allowed me to download & install the main BA programme.

Well that's just bizarre. The in-app stuff doesn't even use our internet system, so it can't be some strange issue with the way we do the HTTP.

Can you double check that in-app purchases are enabled on your iPad. Also, when you log in to multiplayer, do you have to enter your username/password each time, or does it remember them?

Confirm in-app purchases are enabled, Pip, and yes the system remembers my username/password for multiplayer.

Curiouser and curioser.

Mind you, I didn't do the tutorial campaign on first installation, I meant to but selected the NA campaign by mistake. However on second installation I _did_ do the tutorial campaign first, but still have same problems.

That shouldn't make any difference really. As I say, I would (readily ) believe that there was some issue with our networking code, but the in-app stuff is black boxed, and uses Apple's own code.

Can you try logging into MP, making sure you can see (e.g.) the list of challenges, then exiting, and then seeing if you can get past the waiting stage for the in-app purchases.

I bought the new Ipad that just came out last week. BestBuy 18 months interest free made it an affordable birthday present. Then I just happen to be looking at the Matrix store and "smack in the face" I read BA is on the Ipad. I jumped on the app store and DL it right away and haven't been disappointed nor do I feel like I paid too much. This is the first "real" wargame on any Iphone/Ipad and I wanted to say thank you.
I most likely won't purchase the extra DL content until a theater that is more exciting is released, but I am sure it will only be a matter of time.

Well glory be, I just checked again and today the in-app stuff and user content _is_available now! Don't know what has been fixed, but I'm glad that it has been. Many thanks to whoever fixed this.

Just installed patch for my ipad and noticed that i still carnt play some of the multiplayer custom scenarios.

Don't have the names of the custom scenarios at hand(only have access to my ipad at the moment) but the following work only:

scramble for the canal crossing
river of blood
hells ladies dance in fontain

The rest do not work (listed as unknown custom screnario)
