Oh "wise" senate
If your words were true then why is my general B Agriolae dispatched to to Bythinia when he should be in Gaul fighting at my side. As of now only 2 of the 4 legions you assigned to me are actually fighting due to this. Where is my other legion commander H.Rex. ? Have you dispatched him to the moon to fight faeries?
Why is Rome sending all its resources East? Is it because the leaders of plebian aristocrat plutocrat parties cant handle effeminate Easterners?
How is a general to coordinate forces when noone knows where any one is? Even now , I TGM , am offically in Rome, which is clearly not possible as I am in a friigin forrest in Gaul with hordes of barbarains enveloping my flanks.

Re: CRISIS OF THE REPUBLIC TOURNAMENT / Roman Senate
This message from Proconsul Greyus Muscus provides yet further evidence of the chaos that has arisen in our mother city. Fellow Senators, it is clearly time for the Senate to re-assert it's leadership of the Republic as in olden times when the Patricians properly shepherded the interests of all for the glory and prosperity of Rome. Clearly as a start, all the commanders assigned to the campaign against the Celtic hordes must be dispatched to Gaul immediately to insure the success of the campaign. The Aristocrat faction so votes and encourages our fellow Senators to act immediately to insure the success of the campaign in Gaul.

Roman citizens !
Pro-Praetor Batesmotelus, Proconsul Greyus Mousus !
Orders of the Senate of Rome are not to be questioned. Only due to your good reputation the Senate declined all proposals to send you as military advisors to the deserts of Mauretania.
However the Senate of Rome decided to reinforce the army in Gaul.
Pro-Consul Greyus Mousus, hereby the Senate of Rome assigns Legatus Tullius and Legatus Supervarkus to your command. The requested commanders, Rex Hurleyus and Turkus won´t be released from the campaign in Bithynia, as a victory against Mithridates is vital for our nation !

Interesting that The Turk who is actually encamped before a Gallic army threatening my flank , whom also declared for Ericus is now dispatched far away. More evidence of Senatorial corruption.
So, Supvark and Tullias, please march before the senate changes its mind , again

What madness is this? I am currently in combat with the Gallic Hordes am i too fight in 2 places at once? The Senate seems a little confused but alas such is life.

Klaus, i don't think Mark (Turk) is warring against Mithridates. I've only got one battle left in that theater, and it's against Rex. Mark and I are currently hacking at each other in Gaul.Turk1964 wrote:What madness is this? I am currently in combat with the Gallic Hordes am i too fight in 2 places at once? Speaking of Mith, there has been no report to the Senate yet from Burinus Agricolae regarding his defeat by the Pontic forces....

If that is the case. I should be returned post haste.
Dear Senate, make an old man happy and let me return and do battle with the Pont's.
I can sense in my men they were a little aggrieved at my deicision. My men come first and so I wish to appease them, as well as Rome.
My men and I are ready as we speak.

Hail Senator Turk
Just received your letter.
Damn post seems to take for ever on ocassions.
Again I am honoured at your letter of support.
It does make me feels so proud. That the young Romans of today (and the future which is far more important) can think wisely about choices such as this. Ah I feel I have no fear that when I pass, Rome will be well looked after by true Republicans.
Yours Proudly

Roman Citizens.
As I´ve pointed out before, there might randomly occur some confusion in the course of this tournament.
Actually it´s more a RPG/Campaign. Due to the complexity even the Senate won´t be up to date at all times.
However with phase 3 in effect, you´ll get the chance to get things right.
That gonna be explained soon.
Please bring the ongoing battles to an end, there is no need for extra engagements.
I´ll keep you busy, I promise you.
This weekend things will be heating up, with phase 3.3 pp !!

Re: CRISIS OF THE REPUBLIC TOURNAMENT / Roman Senate
As noted by TJM the shame of the defeat prevented me to report the rout of legion against the pontic horde... due to a bad deployment i found my legions far from their best target and the required advance exposed them to the attack of the masses of heavy cavalry from sarmatia and armenia.
Despite my legionnaire fought as lions the allied light and medium troops failed miserably and the defea was inevitable.
I hope in the pietas of the senate and offer myself for the next duty that i deserve...

Ah Burinus
Hail and well met.
More support for the Republic.
Well I am now literally bursting with pride.
I have made my mind up, hopefully we the Republicans will win and I intend to hold a real party, the likes of which has not been seen in a generation.
As for those who have not voted yet. Well the Repubicans are in a position of strength at the moment. The stronger we become, the more we can do for Rome. There will be less internal bickering and more direct action, less time being wasted on procrastination but more time to quickly put Rome back on course to be the greatest power ever known.
Less chance of a damn good thrashing as well. Just a joke, which reminds me of this time I spent in this pleasure den when.
OKay enough I have been told, ruddy scribes, fregging lawyers, GRRRR.

The Senator Supervark votes for the Aristos and whishes it to be known that he would do a much better job at the slave markets than the current incumbant. Who has been justly accused of corruption and nepotism. I stand ready to serve

Battle report to the Senate
Legatus Turk 31/30 lost to TJD Gallic warlord 34/45
It is with regret i must report to the Senate that the IX Legion has been defeated in Battle by The Gallic hordes of TJD the Destrroyer. The Men fought well all day and were forced to retreat to higher ground due to overwhelming Enemy forces. We held our ground but alas the enemy were cunning and launched an asault from the nearby forrest whilst keeping us pinned to our front.I sent in 4 Cohorts 3 auxiliary units ,who performed with great valour and tanacity repulsing the Forrest assault. The enemy then attacked with what can only be described as a howling of wolves to the slaughter. The Cohorts were spread to thin and i had to send in my reserves who were soon overwhelmed. What was left of the Legion has made its way back fighting all the way to the camp of General Greyus.Where we now await our fate for the enemy forces grow stronger by the day. We await reinforcements and are at this momment strengthening the fortifications ready for the next assault.

Well put, Pro-Praetor Batesmotel. Death to toadies! I'm declaring for the Aristocrats. They're just a cut above the rest.batesmotel wrote:My Fellow Senators,
It is time for those who honor our ancestors and the true standards of behavior that made all of Italy under our glorious city's rule and has allowed Roman arms to triumph over the money grubbing Carthaginians and the weak and disorganized Greeks and their toadies, to join with their fellow Aristorcrats to purge Rome of its corruption and to resume adding to the victorious heritage that should be ours. Fortune has smiled on my efforts in Illyria which is a sign that we can indeed achieve far more for Rome's fame and glory than has recently occurred in other theaters.

Come now! It was an attempt to frame me by my political enemies. As you well know, the accusations were proven completely false. Do not let the lies of others stray you from the righteous path. Together we will make sure the Aristocratic party will protect the interests of Rome.Supervark wrote:The Senator Supervark votes for the Aristos and whishes it to be known that he would do a much better job at the slave markets than the current incumbant. Re: CRISIS OF THE REPUBLIC TOURNAMENT / Roman Senate
Ah a fellow party member. Of course they were baseless accusations trying to frame you and do Rome a dis service . Long live the Aristocratic party for the glory that is Rome. I do need money though keeping this household up and the price of gladiators these days is shocking. Thought the republicans were for us rich?

Re: CRISIS OF THE REPUBLIC TOURNAMENT / Roman Senate
Hail the Senate
My honour now is at stake.
Rexus Elizabethus Hurley has made it reasonably clear that he too is not happy about my recent failings.
It seems that more Romans are joining the Aristocratic fraction. We probably now have two thirds of the overall vote between us, approximately 3/4 have voted, half of whom has voted Republican. I feel it is your right, nay your duty to send me to Pont before more harm is done. Otherwise, as TGM has specified, I smell a bit of skullduggery here and I will not be impressed if this comes to the fore and is proven so.
We are ready to set sail or march, whatever the case may be.
I wish to rejoin my fellow comrades in arms in Pont.
I would of course like your blessing but if not I will go myself.
Yours
Ericus Domanicus
P.S. I have set up the terms of battle in a speacial document for TJD, password is atone
