What will be the typical army point size for tournaments

What will it be the typical army point size for tournament play with the point system ( not historical ), for 15mm miniatures, on tables 1.2m x 1.8m ?

We think that 800pts will be the most acceptable size, although some player have expressed a preference for 1000pts. I think that experience will guide us once we have a few competitions under our belts. I've played 1000pts a side with the battle being ended in an evening. With competitions though, we need to cater for players of different experience levels (especially early on), and also the need to try to get a result in the time allowed. I'd therefore recommend 800pts at the moment.
It's worth taking a look at the flank march/reserve rules if you wish to play larger battles.........
