minor advantage

Post by gchristie »

Just wanted to say that I've a couple of PBEMs going where my opponent and I are each playing Axis with minor advantage and we are having a grand old time. So sneer if you want, purists out there, but it is fun not scraping the bottom of the oil barrel by 1943 for a change. I appreciate having the chance to choose the level of advantages, or not. It helps with the replayability factor.

So give it a try sometime.

Cheers.

I've tried that with mirror games with others as well - really fun as Axis but the Allies can never win - might not lose any capitals if you are lucky but certainly can't win.

This may be a good way of balancing differences in skill between two players, e.g. when you are playing against a friend who is a noob.

After trying the minor advantage in a couple of games, I think it would be better if you could just give one side or the other a minor advantage but the way i understand it when you give one side a minor advantage the other side automatically receives a minor disadvantage. I wish we could do away with the disadvantage part, but realize that is probably not moddable.

Yes, using this does balance game play a bit between players. But I recognize that one could develop bad habits this way, just as one can do when playing the AI.

It's all about maximizing the fun and replayablity and "just one more turn" factor for me.
