SS-GTPG Permissions--Modders please Read
Hi Guys
Before I start on the new SS-GTPG equipment file I wanted to ask permission to use more units and skins from the following people, Instead of firing off a bizzillion pm's , I thought I would just make this thread.
VPaulus
Bebro
Drago
Augustin Malar
Flak
Rezaf
Churchy
Those are all that I can think of right now. I'm sure as more public content is released form different creators I will be asking again.
Any other creators of new public content can add their permission in this thread if they want, so that I can use their creations in the future.
Anybody can respond in this thread or pm myself or Nikivdd w/ their replies.
Please don't hesitate to say no if you don't want your content added into this mod, for whatever reason. There will be no hard feelings and your wishes will be respected.
I won't be doing any work for the next couple of days to allow all to respond
Thanks to all and thanks in advance for any and all replies, whatever they may be
******************************************************
To admin/moderators:
Maybe we could make a sticky in this forum so that creators of content and mods can make a post saying that their content can or can't be used, ala' Nikvidd's
new units request sticky
I know alot of people make an annoucement when they release their content, but those initial posts can get buried,it may be easier for modders to just check a general permissions thread to see if somebody allows their work to be used by others.
Just a thought

Hi Bob,
You can use anything I have contributed most certainly. I appreciate your asking, but no problem my friend. All those skins sooner or later start to make a person's head gears start to turn, I know mine are.
I am working on "tweaking" some of the original skins I did that came out too bright on the icons. They were not so bright when I made the skins, so we will see if we can get them toned a bit. I will put them in files and post them as soon as I can get through all the files. I know Rezaf is working on some more skins I sent to him. So sooner or later there will be more skins to pick from.
Now we need to come up with a mod to select skins before putting them into the game. With your permission given I am going to mod the SS and Heer Mods to have other skins in them for my own use.
Happy Panzering,
Flak

Well Nikivdd, you see therein lies the problem. When I have a little buzz going and everything is going along smoothly, making progress and feeling generally productive and a little cocky, invariably something messes up and at that point I just stop and say "f**k it, I don't feel like messing with this tonight any more. LOL

You can use my icons, of course.
But what's new about the centralized icons database? It would be a pity some mod would use these icons with some IDs and other mod use the same icons but with other IDs.

I've bump on the other day that thread. But it seems the great majority don't think to be important.dragos wrote:You can use my icons, of course.

BriteLite offered help to organize such file.
I feel that more than the equipment IDs we need to organize a catalog of icons and standardize the filename of the icons.
I'd like to see more suggestions.

Are you talking about every single new unit and skins?..or just new units.
Either way I think it should be split up amongst volunteers. There is way to much stuff for on person to add to a community e-file
Here is my theory:
I would volunteer to do the new Italian units and I would have the space 13,00-14,000 to add the units in to. Then new units could be added withn that thousand mark area as they are released.
Flak would add the new german additions and have the space 11,000 to 12,00 and the new germans could be added into that space when they are released
I would be given a certain amount of time to get my part if it done and then send the file to the next on the list. Or maybe slitherine could donate something on the web/site and allow certain people to access it to add the new units into the file. I know absolutely nothing about web access and stuff like that other than the files I post for download. That could be an option also, have the file posted on mediafire and each person gets it for a week and then re-uploads the file for the next guy to do his part.

Re: SS-GTPG Permissions--Modders please Read
I have lately been cataloging the various camouflage icons by "type" the better to take a close look at what the various camouflage patterns look like on say a Panther or a PzIV, SdKfz 251, Hummel, etc. By putting all the skinned icons in a folder of the same "type" you can get a better look at what is available to plug into a game or campaign.
That being said, I am cataloging them by "type" and NOT BY THE MAKER or by the pattern of the skin. That might make it a little complicated. Of course I have only been doing this for my own use, so I pretty much know who made an icon anyway.
Rezaf is working on skinning a new batch of camouflage skins for me now on German and "fantasy" icons for various German allies. There is a lot there to be done, so I don't have any idea when he will be getting some of them completed. He is very very generous and accommodating to do this and I surely do appreciate all his sacrifice and hard work. I am not going to hurry him as he is the artist and you do not rush an artist. VPaulus is also doing some for me on the Finns and the Slovaks with his patterns in these "fantasy" pieces of armor. And with an idea from 4Key, I began to "tone down and "dull down" some of the brighter colored existing icons from the first group. The skins sometimes look brighter on an icon than the skin itself, much in the same way some skins do not look so good on some types of units. When I get all of these icons, I will put them into various categorized folders and make all of them available.
It is a nice problem to have indeed, but there are ways to organize them like a catalogue so that you can put them into the games and campaigns you wish without getting frustrated over which ones to pick. As for me, I am going to use Mongo's mod framework to build a number of "personal mods" for playing my own games with the icons I favor the most. That way I can plug them into the game just like the SS or Heer Mod Mongo made. His mod makes it possible and more easy to put the icons you like the most into a game for play without playing the one at a time Equipment Editor tango and worrying if you got everything right. The phrase "invalid Unit" I hate to hear almost as much at "pull over to the side of the road".
I think I have gotten most of the icons made so far, certainly for ground units, but there are now quite a few and I can't guarantee I missed somebody's pet. Like I said, I started this for my own use.
When you make a folder for each and every different icon "type" there are a hell of a lot of them and a lot of obscure ones as well. Then I try to keep up with what is being posted on the forums, both here and DMP.
So I'm making progress at least.

Ten thousands is a too large range if you ask me. I think a range of 1000 would suffice for each minor, and 5000 for a major. Before reading your suggestion, I was thinking to add the Romanian units starting from 5000 so we had the range 5000-6000 reserved for Romanian units, but I'm waiting for further suggestion. The unit list is almost ready, just waiting for all icons to be complete: http://panzercorps.worldwar2.ro/units/roequipment.htmlairbornemongo101 wrote: I would volunteer to do the new Italian units and I would have the space 13,00-14,000 to add the units in to.
