Guderian
This seems to be the least popular of the extra difficulty levels, since most of the discussion revolves around Manstein and Rommel. I haven't tried it myself, but it appears that while some scenarios might be as easy as on normal levels, especially in DLCs where there are plenty of turns, others looks nigh on impossible. Has anyone beat the 39 stock campaign on Guderian? I'm asking this because achieving DV in Sealion and Moscow looks like a nightmare.
Re: Guderian
Not me and I know nobody who tried either.
You mentioned the reasons why Guderian is rather unpopular.

Re: Guderian
I don't like it because it is even MORE about 'fighting the clock' than the base game and not actually fighting a more difficult opponent.
Manstein all the way for me.

Re: Guderian
I tried playing the Bagration scenario from the original PC game on Manstein for some laughs. It was a riot! By the end of the first turn almost no offensive German equipment remained. Total annihilation!
Re: Guderian
Based on the number of turns I need on FM a couple of scenarios would be impossible to win on Guderian for me. Due to this I play Manstein with my prestige heavy core and Rommel on deducter's unit mod.
Re: Guderian
I'm playing on Rommel. I had no problems in DLC 39, 40 and most of 41, getting only DV. However I have just finished the scenario Streets of Moscow and had my first MV while my core is badly hurt. Lost two tanks, one Stuka and several recons, while the rest of my forces is severely weakened (many units with 1-2 strength left) and their experienced reduced since I had to use normal replacements. By the end of the scenario I was deperately holding the objectives needed for a MV. Very tough!
I hope during 1942 I can rebuild those 3 stars I have lost in the last battles of 1941.
Re: Guderian
The problem with Guderian is that the difficulty is not consistent. Take Warsaw for instance, I always finish 5 turns ahead of schedule, so there's no extra challenge.
Some scenarios are even easier, like Piatek. Having not to deal with the last AI wave is great.
On the other hand, Smiferopol from GC42 is a nightmare, try doing that in 7 turns.

Re: Guderian
I couldn't beat the 39 Campaign on Guderian. Just brutal. The stock campaign is so time sensitive as it is that it was brutal.dragos wrote:This seems to be the least popular of the extra difficulty levels, since most of the discussion revolves around Manstein and Rommel.
