Shot with melee capability - still shot?
Armour doesn't count against shot, but do shot troops with a melee capability (Haiduks, Janissaries etc) still count as "shot" in the melee phase as far as the armour POA is concerned or do they transform into non-shot because of the melee capability?

Shot are any foot with an appropriate firearm capability (P174). Having something extra does not change this.

And to add insult to injury, if you are say foot armed with HW or sword you will not get the + POA for those weapons when fighting LF with a firearm in an enclosed field - protected shot you see. Comes as quite a shock when your armored MF swordmen count no +POAs against LF arquebus in an enclosed field. You do have more dice, of course.

Yup, LF with firearms are still shot - comes in handy when you need to reman your captured guns as only pike and/or shot can do so.

Have to check that one when I get home, I though only Foot Battle Troops got the protected status not light infantry, Dragoons getting it becasue they are medium foot, I'll check it in the rule book when I get homeviperofmilan wrote:And to add insult to injury, if you are say foot armed with HW or sword you will not get the + POA for those weapons when fighting LF with a firearm in an enclosed field - protected shot you see. It appears any foot base counts as protected in enclosed fields or a village - see page 126.Have to check that one when I get home, I though only Foot Battle Troops got the protected status not light infantry,

Lets hope there are more of your swordsmen as well, the ++ for being an overlap counts regardless of other POA's, so if you are an overlap you still get ++ on the dirty little LF sneaks. And to add insult to injury, if you are say foot armed with HW or sword you will not get the + POA for those weapons when fighting LF with a firearm in an enclosed field - protected shot you see.
