SPQR ATTENTION
SPQR
Points awarded for completing battles:
Proconsul Ericdoman: 3 pts
Legatus Burinus Agricolae 1 pts
The Senate of Rome announces:
Bithynia:
Urgent Messages from the East arrived usurper Prusias died due to a plot by the rivalling aristocratic families of Bithynia. Now Mithridates VI of Pontus claims the throne of Bithynia. A Pontic army of about 50000 men already crossed the border, heading for Nicomedea. Roman envoys will deliver an ultimatum to Mithridates, as we claim the throne of Bithynia for our client, the legal ruler Nicomedes IV. We don´t expect to come to a mutual agreement with the Pontic king.
Hereby we order the Proconsul, who first finishes 3 training battles to board our fleet in Ostia immediately. The respective 3 Legates who finished training will accompany him to Bithynia.
4 battles against Pontic Army ( 1 for the Proconsul, 1 for each Legate)
Gallia:
As a compensation to our losses in the east, the Roman Senate decided to expand our territory in the west. Quarreling tribes of the Allobroges and the Helvetians continuously threatend our borders in the past. We will subjugate both tribes to establish two new provinces.
Hereby we order the 2nd Proconsul, who finishes 3 training battles to invade the territory of the Allobroges first and the Helvetians next. The respective 3 Legate who finished training with him will accompany him to Gallia.
4 battles against Gauls ( 1 for the Proconsul, 1 for each Legate)
Illyria:
Pro – Praetor Batesmotel engages Dacian raiding parties. King Burebista announced bloody revenge for the fate of his son.
1 battle against Dacians
Hispania Ulterior:
Pro-Praetor Keyth, who meanwhile fortunately fully recovered from his injury, was assigned as the new Governor of the Province Hispania Ulterior.
The new Governor has to convince Sertorius to end up his revolt. How will Pro Praetor Keyth deal with Sertorius ?
Sicily:
Due to overcrowding the sulphur mines with new slaves, mainly from Illyria, the Sicilian population experiences the outbreak of an epidemic plaque.
How will noble Pro-Praetor Kilroy manage the situation?
Cyprus:
Hereby the Senate of Rome assigns Tribune Tiavals, who is in control of the Slave Market temporary to the rank of a Proconsul in order to establish the new province Cyprus. We will build up a naval base on Cyprus to reduce influence of the Cilician Pirates on slave trade.
1 battle against Cilician Pirates
Military reform:
Hereby all Roman Commanders are instructed to create own Army ooB´s. They have to use RoR Late Republican Romans, 400 pts, 3 leaders, no allies.
Cappadocia:
The Senate of Rome accepted the new situation in Judea in return to the offer of Seleucus VII to support us against Mithridates by invading Cappadocia in order to restore the rulership of King Ariobarzanes.

You get the attribute, hard liner. To Sertorius: submit to the will and laws of the Senate and People of Rome to judgement, or face our wrath. We require hostages and a bond of three talents of silver as a sign of your good faith.
Pro-Praetor Keyth
Sertorius invades Hispania Ulterior. Post a challenge for battle.
Take the Military reform into consideration ( see last Roman Senate announcement).
Cheers, Klaus

The bodies of the dead should be burned.
The public baths will be closed to prevent those among the population already sick from infecting others.
Those who are sick should stay at home and are to be attended to by their immediate family who themselves should not leave their homes either.
All ships in port are quarantined for two months. Fishing boats may continue to be used, but they must return to the same port.
We command that every citizen should sacrifice to the Gods and appeal for their power of healing.

Re: CRISIS OF THE REPUBLIC TOURNAMENT / Roman Senate
There is a gossip on the Roman Forum that the remaining forces of Tribunus Tulius and Tribunus Federicus also known as Fedem had a bloody encounter on the Subura streets. Federicus men were able to dominate the situation and Tribunus Tulius and his men had to run for their lives.
Some say Tribunus Federicus is already looking for a black slave market. He is very stubborn.

Second training game
Ericus 10/30 (1958 casualties)- Romans vs Rex 41/39 (2606 casualties)-Seleucids.
Well Rex formed up his Seleucids in the same way as his opponent had done in another battle.
This time the Gods were certainly on my side. Although having poor mf in the front rank seemed a bit strange as well as hordes charging into my legions.
(I am awake at this ridiculous time as I stayed up way too late and when I tried to go to sleep I could not:))
My game vs the Turk is going to be very close I suspect as my right flank is crumbling away quite rapidly, while Turk's right is slowly but surely giving way. I had a good lead but it is being slowly shortening. This time I am using Seleucids vs the Romans.
However Fedem's Gauls are beating up my Roman army with consummate ease. I thought he might have just allowed me to wade head on into his warriors but decided to pull them away and push on with his left flank command with chariots and cavalry. They have overwhelmed me and will in time move to the rear of my legions where I will be crushed. I fell for that one, hook line and sinker so well played.
Then Tullius, I was led to believe he would be using one of the Barbarian forces as I had stated. Yet he appears on the battlefield with a Roman army and one he has customized. Excellent, shows cunning, knowing how to bend the rules and to ignore orders from a senior commander. Brings back memories of my youth.

Re: CRISIS OF THE REPUBLIC TOURNAMENT / Roman Senate
A definite crisis
Fedem Gauls 40/46 vs Ericus Romans 31/30
A loss as was expected but the Legions did what they do best and beat the avg HF in combat.
The damage had been done though.
A deserved win for Fedem, He capitalised on my major mistake, pushing too far forward and having my flanks exposed. On top of that I was margianlly outdiced as well.
It does show though that a mobile enemy can cause our legions major problems. With the advent of the new senate proclamation about us hand picking our men. Maybe the game would have been a lot different.
No excuses. Fedem I salute you.

Re: CRISIS OF THE REPUBLIC TOURNAMENT / Roman Senate
Tribunus Federicus men disguised as Gauls were able to surprise the Legendary Proconsul Ericus and got a hard and costly victory. Despise of using wood weaponry for training the beating was hard and some blood was spilled. Tribun
It is said Ericus could have been affected by bad sleeping that probably affected his decitions and their men also have some wooded gladius of poor quality (dice).
Besides being training Tribunus Federicus is really proud and he is going to remember this day for a long time.

The battle against the Cilician Pirates ended in a devastating loss for the forces of Rome. The effects of the battle on slave trade and the new naval base are sure to be profound.

Battle Training report
Turk 1964 29/30 defeated The Grey mouser 46/46
In a hard fought battle which swayed back and forth all day Legatus Turk emerged victorious. All be it only just the crafty old general tried his many tricks but tthe dice did not favour him this day. I see Legatus Turk is now a Senator what trickery is this? The command of the VII has gone to Legatus Burinius during the night. What has Rome in store for me ?
