Objective completed

Post by enric »

The following game has completed
Opponent: xx
Battle: MPArnhem*capture_the_crossing_mp
Turns: 5
This game is now complete but you can view a playback of the final turn by running Battle Academy and clicking Multiplayer. Select this game from the list of current games and click Play.
In some games I received this email, the playback shows nothing more than "Objective completed", what it means?, the opponent has canceled the game? If it's the case, maybe the game should give an advice of it, no?.

Hmmm - you are probably right. If the opponent surrenders, perhaps we should make their shame more apparent ;).

Cheers

Well it's not a question to make more apparent their shame, is to be sure everything is ok.

Also a feature I think will be very useful is to inspect the game once it is finished, this is a feature in many games where at the end you can get and overall view of all units left from both sides, this helps to know what did you do wrong or right, how far you where from victory o defeat.

I finished another game and in that case I lost, but I can't check why and how.
The game was 3 flags equal and in that turn my opponent took a flag and the game ended. The problem is that there is no way to see how, the replay last for a moment and I had no time to go to see which flag was taken and how, all flag were protected.
Should be a way to pause the replay, move the map and see what os happening.
Losing or winning is not important, it's just a game, understanding and learning is the fun.

I wonder if checking a finished game several times is the even that generates the email:
"We noticed you have downloaded some turns multiple times. If you are having any technical issues pleas…"

Checking several times is necessary to see what's happened in that last turn.

Interesting idea. I will check with the server team to make sure they covered that eventuality :)

Re: Objective completed - or not?

Hi Pip & team,

This "objective completed" thing is frustrating. I've just played asadexes. We were fairly evenly matched on a Bocage scenario, with me only holding 3 of the necessary 6 VPs, and about 10 turns to go. He made a really good move of all of units, nicely placed, nothing of his died, he killed a couple of mine (darn it!). Then the game moved itself to the completed list. If I play it back, it shows me his moves and ends with "objective completed". Did asadexes resign? I know that I didn't achieve my objectives... Essentially, I'm trying to figure out if some of my games are ending prematurely (usually just as they're getting interesting)... Or if my opponents are making great moves and then resigning...

If you update BA, please consider...
(i) permitting one further round of in game message swaps (so we can arrange to set up new private games/passwords) after the end
(ii) being precise on game endings, ie. "Enemy/your forces eliminated" , "Objectives achieved/failed", "Opponent denied victory", or simply "You resigned" or "He resigned"...

Often games seem to end for no apparent reason. Thanks!
