Something new and exciting?
Hi
Commences (I hope) Saturday March 17th.
Hopefully this may grab players attention and you would like to take part.
It is a bit of a filler before LOEG starts up again.
Quite a few players have received a private message from me, so just check your pms please.
13 players have signed up already.
I would be looking at players who have had at least 6 months experience of playing the game to take part.
Swiss Sytem Competiton,
6 games each, depending on number of players (16, 18, 20)
Storm Of Arrows 400pts (any allies can be included),
10 turns only (Whoever playes the last turn resigns, the winner posts the result)
PM your choice of armies to me, not on this link. You will have 3 choices of armies each. In order of preference, 1, 2 and 3, eg
1 Navarrese
2 Med Portugese
3 WOTR Lancastrian
Allocation of armies are based on stockwellpete's player performance table, my knowledge of the players ability, first come first serve and quite possibly a roll of a dice or two.
Once I have received choices from everybody and I am happy with whom gets what, I will post the draw for the first round.
Armies can be customized.
FOW and Double moves are on.
The illegal rear charge is not allowed. Please go to FOG-Digital, Tech support, scroll down and find "split move rear charge", it has been confirmed as a bug.
Please do not get carried away with other possible bugs or flaws there are in the game and so flood me with these. Just play the game unless I am inundated with one or two things in particular and at least half of the players involved have specified this.
Again to make it open (Jonno's idea)
Game 1 = Very crowded (both players must choose very crowded)
Game 2 = Crowded
3 = Mixed
4 = O
5 = VO
6 = Mixed
I have an idea of a scoring system which is based on everybody scoring pts, here goes
All players begin with 1 pt, that is player A = 1 vs Player B = 1,
casualties inflicted is 0 -25, 0 points,
26 -50 1pt,
51 - 75 2pts,
76 - 100 = 3pts
2 pts for an outright win.
Example
Player A = 100% vs Player B = 77%
Player A = 1 (intitial score) + 3 (76 -100% casualties inflicted) + 2 (outright win) Total = 6
Player B = 1 (initial score) + 3 (76-100% casulaties inflicted), Total = 4
Player C =24% vs Player B = 28%, C = 1 vs B = 2
Go with me on this please, again this comp is a bit different so we will all be trying something new.
For those of you who do not know anything about the Swiss System, here goes
Round 1 = Random draw
Round 2 = Players with scores that are identical or close will play one another. So players with 6 pts after round 1 will play other players on 6 pts and or possibly 5.
Round 3 = As above but players on 12 pts will ........
Round 4
5
6 Player with most pts after 6 games wins
Cheers
Eric

Re: Something new and exciting?
So if the score is, say, 12/34 versus 35/36 after 10 moves, is that a draw, Eric? 10 is a very low number of turns really, maybe 12 would give more chance for players to finish games? Just a thought.ericdoman1 wrote: 10 turns only (Whoever playes the last turn resigns, the winner posts the result)
I am not sure how opponents in rounds 4,5 and 6 are chosen. Is it always the case that you play someone with similar points totals, or are there other random draw rounds? I can imagine a situation where 2 players pull right away from the rest after, say, 4 games, so would they just play each other in rounds 5 and 6?Round 1 = Random draw

Re: Something new and exciting?
Hi Pete
I had decided on 10 turns as I have found that is about average for a game to end. Possibly less at 400pts.
Based on your example.
Player A 12/34 vs Player B 35/36
Player A 1pt (initial score), 35/36 casualties inflicted on B (76 -100% = 3) so 1 + 3 = 4pts
Player B 1pt, 12/34 casualties inflicted on A (26 -50% = 1) so 1 + 1 = 2pts
The score would be Player A 4 vs Player B 2
Round 4, 5 and 6 continue with players with similar scores playing one another (always a different player) so yes. You will have some players at the end of round 3 on 18 pts. They will play each other. Again the 10 turns means there is limited time and some games may become a bit more cagey and so could end up on 15/33 vs 17/35. Both players would only receive 2 pts and so players below will generally catch up.
Hope that makes sense.

Yes, it does. It will be interesting to see how this works out in practice.Round 4, 5 and 6 continue with players with similar scores playing one another (always a different player) so yes. Re: Something new and exciting?
Well we have 16 players which is a good turn out so thanks gents.
Still waiting for a few replies from other players.
However this competition is open to all (except those players I have notified). Even the newcomers.
If you want to learn about the game. Playing against good players is the way to do it.
Again, please send your army choices to me please, not to this site.
Cheers

An excellent chart, Eric - and I was only joking too.
Me and Todd are underway in our match.
Re: Something new and exciting?
I'm based on Finland, not the US. I just have a lot of time on my hands since I'm a student so I'm often available throughout the day.
