Password issues when reinstalling on new PC

Post by PGtomli »

I've upgraded to a new computer and I re-installed Panzer Corps on the new computer.

However, when I use my log-in and password it refuses to allow me to log in, stating that either the user name or the password is incorrect.
So, I tested it on my old computer and there it works.

Is there a way to make the new computer the main computer that I can log in from?
Will it work if I uninstall Panzer Corps from the old computer?
Do you (Slitherine) need to reset my password on your server side and tie it to my new computer (- I suppose you have a hash code of the hardware config that ties to my user name and password)?

What is the fix for this issue?

(Also, how would I go about to change my forum password? When I go to Edit Account Settings in the User Control Panel, it just jumps to the "create a new user" page instead of allowing me to change my forum password.)

As long you aren't use both computers at the same time, I think you shouldn't have any problem.
To my knowledge it's not even tied to any kind of hardware security check.

I'll pm Iain about your issue, but please note that we're in the weekend, so he will only probably look at it on Monday.

About the "Account Settings", you're right, it's still not working. Remember that the forum was all recently reshaped, and not all things are working 100% right.

Apologies for all the inconveniences.

Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate it.

I've now tried and verified logging in while the old computer was turned off. Unfortunately it still gives me invalid username or password, so I suspect that there must be some sort of check against hardware. Perhaps it checks the MAC address of the network card.

In any case, hopefully the devs will be able to solve this issue because it would be unfortunate if I cannot use the new computer for multiplayer in Panzer Corps.

There are absolutely no checks of this kind. I can only imagine that perhaps you are entering the password incorrectly - I know I often forget when the system is saving it for me. Have you tried manually re-entering the password into the old machine?

We will get the password reset dealt with asap - sorry for the inconvenience.

Cheers

Pip,
Thanks, you were right. The password I was entering (manually) was not the right one. I finally got it to work
