Just looked at the DLC 43 Screen Shots

Post by brettz123 »

Looked pretty interesting three things that stood out right away:

1. The maps look big
2. One of the pictures has 10 soviet airplanes. So it looks like the luftwaffe is going to have some fun in this DLC!
3. Another picture had a captured T-34/85 or KV-85 (not sure which one it was based on the small sprite sorry)

I'm really looking forward to playing around on the big maps and considering how many tanks were in the Tatsinskaya scenario I am wondering what Kursk will be like.

Looks like a lot of tanks to take on. Should be interesting and fun. Well only one more week to wait.

Not only bigger maps, and more units to fight, but 43 brings all the big tanks out on both sides! Is March 7th still the release date, thought I saw that someplace??

I am begining to think that is why I dont like the late war in PzC.
Armour is abundant and too lethal, even against Infantry backed by Artillery in close terrain.

Infantry certainly takes on a back seat role at that point unless you are taking out other infantry in a city and even then tanks can handle that pretty well. I think your right that some time in 43 it will become a little more like a game. I have always liked early and mid war (pretty much 39-42).

The 1943 class of German infantry absolutely thrashes armour that attempts to take them on in towns ?

So long as they have some entrenchment points in close terrain the 43 wehrmacht inflict heavy casualties on attacking armour. They hold up just fine. Other nationalities are not quite as good.

Old Timer Panzer General fan. Maybe a Volksturm soldier now. Did they let Volksturm drive Panzers?

Yeah thats great for us but doesn't up the challenge level too much :). Actually as long as your toting around a couple of artillery pieces it really isn't going to matter how good infantry is. By the time you attack them they will all be suppressed anyway.

I think a system with separate maximum core slots for infantry and armor, like in Pacific General was for ships and ground units, and ships further denominated to capital and smaller, would fix the problem. Having 90% of units on map armor is wrong and boring. It's ok for heavy tanks to thrash infantry as long they are in the minority on the battlefield, as they would be reserved for spearheads.

There was some website problems today (07 March at around 12:00 GMT). I got loads of SQL error messages. I guess the database had a hickup and possibly lost some of messages.
