Obstacles

Post by KiwiWarlord »

Obstacles, pp170,"An Obstacle is otherwise treated as if it was a 'field fortification' ".

I placed an obstacle 15MU from my base edge during set up, it stayed. I placed a Medium Foot BG on the 10 MU line behind the obstacle during deployment.
Question, can the Medium Foot BG move 5 MUs into a position 'defending fortifications' as described pp182 ?

If so can either player move to defend Obstacles within or at 15MUs from their table edge?

I think the intent was that obstacles are treated as field fortifications for how they affect combat, so no I don't think you can jump up to it in your first move. That is my take on it anyway, perhaps a rule writer could be more specific.

Congratulations on actually getting one where you want it, mine mostly end up against my long table edge so they get tossed back in the box.

I agree with Deadtorius. They are treated as fortifications for combat when defended but not for the free 1st move to contact. In addition unlike Fortifications, they can be defended from both sides whereas a Fortification has a front and a rear.
