The scrolling is fairly slow on less powerful machnes - what are your machine specs and operating system?

My System:

Intel Core 2 Duo 6300
2GB Ram
NVIDIA Geforce 7950 GTX2

I like the game, I played it all night up till today morning and now my hand hurts so bad because of the scrolling. I want to play more today but I couldnt. It hurts so much and it is annoying me so much that a game with so less system requirements runs so slowly. So I would be very thankfull If someone could solve the problem!

Try righ click map to center, takes abit of practice but is a quick way of scrolling on short-medium distances. You have a faster CPU than I have in fact, so it seems strange.

Are you running any software simultaneously that require much attention from the CPU?

I made my whole system new on Friday, so there is nothing running in the backround but Antivir. I have the newest NVIDIA Driver on my system and the latest Java Version. Any other game like Company of Heroes runs very fine.

Maybe try to disable the virus protection briefly just to test if scrolling speed up.

Two gigs of RAM, and a KILLER video card, and it still scrolls slowly, beats heck out of me!

Sounds like some weird conflict...

I had the slow scroll thing on my old box, with 512 RAM, but not on my new box. And I only have 1 gig RAM to your 2 gigs, and I have a 7800 to your 7950 video card, so this makes no sense unless it's a bizarre conflict.

I usually do not scroll that much. I tend to click on the strategic map to center my tactical view. Perhaps this might be a useful work-around for you, until you get a true fix?

It does sound like an odd conflict somewhere. I would try combinations of the following to see if you can work out the problems.

- try running in a window
- try toggling the vsync settings on the video card control panel
- check whether there is some oddness with having Antialiasing enabled

Perhaps we can find out where the bottleneck is!

Cheers

CPU is more important than graphics card for CEAW.

I'm thinking it is most likely an issue with the lock/unlock/blit cycle. I guess that if there was a general CPU issue then everything would be slow. I guess it might be some wierd Java runtime spinlock issue somewhere, but that's going to much harder to track down and remedy.

Cheers

Its a weird thing! With VSync Forced on it works much better :D Not perfect but much better!

Now I have another question. The game forces on 1024 * 768 resolution 75 Hz refresh rate! I tried a refresh tool to change it fix to 85 Hz but the game still uses 75 Hz? and thx a lot guys for your quick answers!!!

update: when I force a Refresh Rate of 85 Hz or higher the game says "The Display doesnt support 1024 * 768"
