Cuirassiers: Armored det. horse or heav. armored horse?

Post by moncholee »

Hi, I would like to know which one of those two types of mounted troops you regard as being more useful in most situations (one against the other, against infantry, cost and quantity fielded, etc...) I have used both types and can´t make my mind, I would say that determined horse are better against infantry but overall they seem balanced to me. Any opinions?

Cheers.

If you can get Superior Heavily Armoured Horse I say that they are better than Average Armoured Determined Horse.

I have used Cavaliers before which are similar to determined horse and have not had much luck with them myself. So far I have had more more luck with the heavily armoured superior Kuirassier (horse), at least when the dice like me anyway. I think a lot depends on who you are fighting. Blathergut has informed me he has moved up the date of his Protetstant army so I am thinking he is looking at the determined horse for his allies. Then I will see how they compare to regular horse. My guess is on a mounted vs mounted they could get a 1 or 2 dice advantage as they only need to fight in a single line giving you an overlap vs my Kuirassier. Just my thoughts at present since I have not seen what he has in store for me yet.

I think you are right they are balanced. I have stopped a few Det Horse with Heavy armoured guys and shocked the Dt Horse.

I agree I think the Dt Horse is a better anti-foot unit. There is also the manuverablity question a line of Dt Horse is nice but often you can manuver them 4 wide. So you occupy less frontage.
