The Hummel ...

Post by margeorg »

Hello,

I noticed that the Hummel has exactly the same attack values than f.e. the Sturmpanzer I. However, this isn´t correct. While the Sturmpanzer I carried a sIG33 (15cm) infantry gun, the Hummel had the much more powerful 150mm field howitzer 18. IMHO this should be reflected by the attack values. Anwhile we at this, one should also think about the Wespe in comparison to the Sturmpanzer I and the sIG 38(t) Ausf.M. The Wespe carried the 105mm light field howitzer 18, and AFAIK this gun was at least comparable to the sIG 33.

I think the issue is that the Sturmpanzer's attack values are too inflated. I think this is for balance reasons, as the Germans lack mobile artillery of any sort in 1939-1940, and even in 1941-1942 it remains the only 3 range mobile artillery. I personally think the Sturmpanzer is too good for single player.

If you look at the towed artillery, the 10.5 cm and 15 cm guns have the same values as the Wespe and Hummel, respectively.

Well, if you´re talking about mobile artillery, yes the germans had virtually none of them during the early campaigns. Even the Sturmpanzer was availabe in very limited numbers only (AFAIK 48 were build). The dev should think about introducing the 8,8cm Flak on the 8t halftrack vehicle. This combination, although also a rare item during the 1940 France campaign, was heavily used as a mobile anti-tank weapon. As for the rest of the panzer divisions, their artillery was motorized, but not armoured. It´s a drawback I think the player has to live with.

Yes, I tend to think, too, that it is the Sturmpanzer that is too strong and thus makes the other SP artillery look too weak - I think I still used my Sturmpanzer Is in DLC 42.

BTW, greetings from Frankfurt to Frankfurt ;)

The range of the Sturmpanzer I is also too high, it had indeed a rather special gun and it has a history of being too good since Panzer General.
The damage values could use a readjustment as right now it indeed seems as if the "15 cm sIG 33" gun is the same as the "15 cm sFH 18/1 L/30" which definitely isn't the case.

There's no patch coming for some time, and it's not 100% clear whether the developers will change this. The only current solution is to modify the equipment file yourself, which is not hard to do.

For instance, in my file the Sturmpanzer I is only available for DLC 1940, has range 2, has lower HA, and costs more.
