Reserves

Post by JWoods »

Maybe an obvious answer but how do you get reserves? I captured 3 artillery in Warsaw but 2 of them disappeared on the start of the next scenario. The one that remained filled out a core slot.. If I go to purchase I cannot purchase above what my core allows? What am I missing?

Regards

About the three artillery units you capture in Warsaw scenario. Once you get them, you will notice two of them are auxiliary and one is a core. Look for a bright border around the strength number plate - that is the one you will keep in your core.

If you want to purchase more units than a scenario allows to deploy, you must do so during the deployment phase, before deploying all the allowed units. This way you can have an unlimited number of core units in reserve, but once the scenario starts and you used all allowed slots, you can no longer buy / deploy unless you lose a core unit on the map.

Reserves are units that are part of your core but are not deployed during a current scenario be it because of core size limit or because you do not want/need them. PC allows you to have unlimited amount of units in your core but limits the amount you can have deployed in every scenario. This allows you, if your prestige permits of course, to have certain specialized units available for special scenarios. You can have bridge engineers ready for scenarios where you need to cross rivers or have some additional infantry for city siege scenarios where tanks become quite useless or have a few paratroopers ready in case you want to drop them in behind enemy lines to take a victory hex very far out.

As far i know in the Warsaw scenario only one of the captured polish guns (i think it's always the first, not 100% sure here tho) goes into your core no matter how much core slots you have open. The others become auxiliary units and as all auxiliary units they do not carry over to the next scenario.
