OK Anders, the deadline is not until Wednesday February 8th, so you have plenty of time.hidde wrote:Me and deeter are moving forward albeit slowly.
With an army like Moldavians there's lot of evading going on.
Time difference is also a factor.
Our first KO Champion is DAVOUTHOJO!!

batesmotel (Bospornas(mid)) 9/40
cromlechi (Graeco-Bactrians) 36/29
Thanks for the game. At 350 points the Bactrians are a small army that doesn't really have enough mobility to compensate for its small numbers and the Bosporans were able to maneuver to exploit this.

Update on hidde vs deeter.
We will most likely finish soon. Would have liked to shoot and evade some more than I did but the maps are too small
and deeter had enough lights to protect his fighting troops anyway so...
Bad start for me. Gave away some skirmishers among other things and suddenly I was down 0 to 13!
Managed to claw my way back so we are now both 10pts from breaking.
Have six poor, light spear mediums and they are threatened and also not much strengths left in my cavallry.
Reckon it can be over quickly unless I can get my mediums out of harms way, gather the little strength I have
and somehow use my mobility to achive some kind of good position.
He have some cav too so it probably wont happen...

OK Anders, thanks for the update. If you need a day or two extra then that's fine - and if the winner could then start their quarter-final match with todd645 fairly promptly that would be a great help. So far we have ericdoman1 and davouthojo through to the semi-finals and jonno is playing batesmotel in the other quarter-final.

hidde (Moldavians) 32/36
deeter (Graeco-Bactrians) 31/31
It's over...and what I fight it was!
Never thought I could manage a win after the lousy start!
Thanks deeter for a great game and a real challenge.
todd, the challenge is up.

Re: FOG: It's a Knock-Out! TOURNAMENT NOW OPEN
Well played, Anders.
So that completes all the second round matches now. Two of the quarter-finals are also completed and we still have hidde v todd645 and jonno v batesmotel to be decided in the quarter-finals. Chris or jonno - have you started your match please? Deadline for completion of quarter-finals is Sunday 19th February. I will release the semi-final draw as soon as I have one more result in. Good luck everyone!

Hidde - thanks for the challenge. I am away at the moment, but I will be able to grab it tomorrow. I usually can do my turns very quickly.

batesmotel (Bosporans(mid)) - 11/40
jonno (Gallic Hill Tribes(late)) - 44/41
The Gauls were forced to fight the Bosporans on the mostly featureless plains. The Gauls chose to defend one corner of their side of the map where they had three patches of plantation to shelter them from the Bosporan missiles but it was still much like shooting Gallic fish in a barrel. Thanks for the game.

Re: FOG: It's a Knock-Out! TOURNAMENT NOW OPEN
Semi-final draw now available at top of this thread. There is still one quarter final tie unresolved and that should be starting either today or tomorrow, so there is no need for Eric and Chris to rush into your game if you have other FOG commitments.
Please note that there will be a 3rd place/4th place play-off match as well for the losing semi-finalists.

In case anyone wonder we are playing. Slow and steady. Not finishing anytime soon but we'll get there

Re: FOG: It's a Knock-Out! TOURNAMENT NOW OPEN
Congratulations Anders - so that completes all the quarter-final matches (and well ahead of schedule too!) Commiserations to all the beaten quarter-finalists, but I think you can consider it a good achievement to reach the last eight of a competition that had a fairly strong field of 32 entrants at the beginning. So now we have just four grizzled old veterans left in the semi-finals.
Good luck to you all. Deadline for completion of matches will be Friday 24th February. The losing semi-finalists will also play-off for third and fourth places.
And if the semi-finalists do have time to give us all a very brief update around the half-way stage of their match then I am sure that would be very much appreciated by many of the other entrants in this competition.
