DLC 42 Feedback

Way back during DLC 39, Kerensky you wrote this regarding my feedback on Lillehammer:
If this is working as intended, it is just a terrible feature. I mean, it's one thing to have a fog of war. It's another thing to be deploying your units and somehow not notice the 6 inches of snow on the ground...
viewtopic.php?t=28263&highlight=dlc++rommelEven so, the terrain on the ground during the deploy phase SHOULD be the frozen tileset, and hopefully this issue will definitely be addressed, because it affects all future scenarios that begin with mud/snow ground states.

I completely agree. It`s not really reasonable imo to not know there`s snow on the map when you are deploying units since those are already present conditions, not something for the weather forecasting. Plus, it`s visually disturbing too to see the map flipping like that.deducter wrote: If this is working as intended, it is just a terrible feature. I mean, it's one thing to have a fog of war. Finished 42 now including both endings. Generally enjoyable.
My one major quible was ruins of Stalingrad. I was expecting Demyansk on a larger scale - instead 75% of my force sat around waiting for attacks which never came. In part that was my fault for not closely reading the D/V requirements until ~turn 13. After 2 scenarios of grinding through city streets to capture objectives we got a nice change of pace by... grinding through city stre - nevermind.
For 43, and especially 44 and 45 my hope is that we'll see more passive defensive senarios where a D/V requires only holding all the objectives you have or saving X number of units instead of having to go on the offensive.

I think you need to build up a reserver core of artillery and infantry for when you will eventually get to Stalingrad. Run them in your core in the early years try to get a couple stars and then let them sit it out till the city of death comes along. That is what I am trying at present in my DLC campaign. hoping to have something by the time I get there. At present I have over 30 units in the corps, so that leaves me with about 9 spares each deploy.

Probably a beta or even an alpha version ?Kastor wrote:T34/43 in DLC42???

Re: DLC 42 Feedback
The T-34/43 is the hexagonal turret version of the T-34, and that started production in mid-1942.

I don't know I only have 6 inf units and I felt it was more than enough to handle Stalingrad on FM. Of course 11 artillery pieces really helps too.deadtorius wrote:I think you need to build up a reserver core of artillery and infantry for when you will eventually get to Stalingrad. Re: Re:
Eleven artillery pieces? That's a lot. Adding 6 infantry slots you almost have your core full. What setup are you using exactly if i may ask? I am just being curious to see such setup working.brettz123 wrote:I don't know I only have 6 inf units and I felt it was more than enough to handle Stalingrad on FM. In the beta I used something like 10 artillery and my six core infantry. But I added 4 more green Pios to round out the force. Between always covering my infantry with artillery and using the few panzers I brought to block of enemy movement between the districts, I didn't have any trouble with any of the Stalingrad scenarios. I left most of my air-force and scouts at home.
My artillery was made up of 105s, StuGs and the Half-Tracs with rockets (I forget the name) I had 3-4 of each. Then 6 pios, 2 SE Grens and 2 paras. Supported by a few mobile ATs and Panzers (3 SE). I think I brought 2 fighters and 2 fighter bombers. Worked like a charm, but I had to do it slow and steady. Always assume the next district is full of SMg inf and arty and never advance away from friendly arty. Use armor to surround districts. The AI will never use SMG inf to engage armor in the open.

Very true the key to Stalingrad is slow and steady. It really is a slog and I found it to be not all that much fun because I love the maneuver of the more open maps but a very doable scenario.Akaoz wrote:In the beta I used something like 10 artillery and my six core infantry.
