I recently purchased Panzer Corps + the 39 and 40 DLCs. Having played PG to death in the past, I went straight to the '39 Grand Campaign. I am concerned that the difficulty settings are not working properly. Two strange symptoms:
(1) On the "Field Marshall" setting, most Polish units are at 5 strength. Is that the way it is supposed to be?
(2) Although Polish units normally appear at "5" strength, the first time I played the Piatek scenario, the Polish units started appearing as 15, and there were a lot of them, an unbelievable number, perhaps more than 100; and even though I snatched back an objective at the last minute, I lost. This sounds like one of the post-FM difficulty settings, though I didn't enter any cheat codes or select them. When I went back to the beginning of the scenario (I had saved the last turn of the preceding one), it played with much less difficulty--no 15-strength units, no overwhelming flood of units.
What's going on here? Surely one or both of these phenomena indicates a malfunction of some sort. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program, the 1.05 update, and the DLCs. While I haven't seen issue #2 yet, issue #1 is still present (and I noticed that many of the French units at the beginning of the '40 DLC are also at strength 5). Help! And thanks in advance.
Difficulty settings not working properly?

Hello and welcome!
Understrength units are working properly. Many units throughout the DLC will have modified strength, fuel, and ammunition values to simulate surprise attacks. Enjoy taking on these weakened units while you can, the surprise won't last forever.
As for your second issue, that does sound very odd. Without a save file to examine though, I won't be able to figure out what, if anything, went wrong. =/
Good to hear this issue did not re-occur since though.

Re: Difficulty settings not working properly?
This is working as it should. Those 15 strength units are named (General Kurtzeba, General Boltuc etc) and they represent the commanders with their units. There are only 4-5 of those 15 strength units, and they don't appear all at once. Some appear towards the end of the scenario.robman wrote: (2) Although Polish units normally appear at "5" strength, the first time I played the Piatek scenario, the Polish units started appearing as 15, and there were a lot of them, an unbelievable number, perhaps more than 100; and even though I snatched back an objective at the last minute, I lost.
