Do units have unlimited retreats per turn?

Post by robc04_1 »

I haven't investigated it too much, but it seems like a unit can retreat an unlimited amount of times per turn. If it is true, it doesn't make much sense to me. Since units can only attack one at a time and not synchronize their attacks, target units seem like they can retreat too many times because after multiple reatreats they can get completely to safety. It seems like there should be a max number of times or tiles that a unit can retreat per turn. Anyone know how this works for sure?

Thanks

I don't have the exact mechanics in my head right now, but I never found it so bad because they surrender at 0 morale already, so there's not really an unlimited amount, it's just that you never know how long it will take exactly.

They only surrender at 0 morale if you are next to them, otherwise they surrender at -100. I'm mainly talking about tanks who constantly retreat out of range. Sometimes killing them is like playing wack a mole.

I can see your point, but having a unit retreat to a tile out of your control feels like enough of a penalty. Although I can see it being annoying if you wanted to go for the kill. Having said that, if you are hitting it multiple times and it's retreating away, then chances are you are going for the suppression anyway?

It's something to consider, yes. Although I am not sure what we would do if they ran out of points and couldn't retreat?

Cheers

It would take a beating and then die. :)
Sometimes it is good to suppress the enemy unit before coming in close and going for the kill. If the enemy can scamper away constantly it makes this unnecessarily difficult (and to me it seems unrealistic).
