That's just perfect! I hope that in the future, there will be some releases devoted entirely to the 41' and 42' Eastern front campaigns. My favorite period, especially the early soviet counter offensives from the winter 1941/42. Anybody can tell me what was the biggest tank battle of the whole war? Kursk? No, it was the 1941 Battle Of Dubno, yet completely forgotten. I hope that some day, the Panzer Corps creators will dare to recreate such a forgotten battles like the fighting around the Leningrad 1941-43 or the completely unknown, failed Zhukov's "Mars" offensive from 1942.
Fingers crossed;)

I don't want to say too much at this early stage, but I did want to add a few comments now that we have revealed the scenario list.
In the same way our 1939 DLC took the Polish campaign and expanded it out into seven scenarios, and the upcoming 1942 DLC takes the Stalingrad campaign and expanded it to seven or eight scenarios, Kursk is now getting the same treatment.
I don't know if everyone is aware of this, but the focus on the DLC, even as early as 1939 and 1940, has been placed putting the 'Panzer' in Panzer Corps. As a result, many of our players have been bulking their core up with lots of Panzers. Our hope is to see a 1943 DLC campaign that does not become "upgrade all my tanks to Tigers as soon as they are available", and part of our strategy against this has been to encourage players to build up vast quantities of tank units so they cannot instantly afford to upgrade them ALL into Tigers.
703 per Tiger upgrade times 7-12 tanks is hovering below and near the 10k prestige mark, which is a LOT of prestige to dump all at once, not to mention all the other forces in a player's core that need upgrading and prestige to repair.
We've been paying close attention to player feedback and progression so get ready to fire up those Panzers for the largest tank battles in history! BETA testing should start roughly a week after the release of DLC 1942, but I can't give a promise on that exact date.
For any newcomers who wish to participate in the BETA, have a look at the link at the end of this thread. As much as we do want our veteran players to get their chance to test the content, we also value the input of all of our players. We're doing our best to make campaigns that are accessible and fun for all skill ranges, even if that might mean turning the difficulty down OR up.

I have this one already but still haven't time to read it. I also recommend "Demolishing the Myth" by Valeriy Zamulin. I think is very valuable, because at last it brings in the modern Russian perspective on the subject. I hope that will it be the first, but not the last and the pattern of releasing the books based mainly on the memoirs of the German generals, will be finally changed.billmv44 wrote:In preparation, I'm reading George Nipe's new book - Blood, Steel and Myth, the 2nd SS Panzer-Corps and the Road to Prochorowka.

When you say "Eastern Front" to me or I hear about it, it is speaking the language of love to me. I want to fight Russians! Sometimes I want to fight with the Russians and all their neat armor!
But I know my preferences are not those of everyone and I will play the PzC scenarios and Campaigns on the Eastern Front primarily and make the historical ones and theoretical historical ones up that I want to play for myself. That is the beauty of this game. You can make it what you want it to be in almost every way.
When you stand in a the countryside where Panzers rolled and 88's blasted away, T-34's sped by and you walk across the Freedom Square in Kharkiv or you take a ride north out of Kharkiv to the area of the Kursk offensive, it gets into your blood. The Country people in villages and small towns of that area of Ukraine and Russia find artifacts all the time and their barns have this stuff lying around, usually in bad condition since it has laid out in or underground for 50-60 years, but it happened there where you are standing. And other than some newer paved roads, some new gas stations, some new office buildings and modern apartment buildings, not much has changed except the girls all wear short skirts, halter tops and the shortest shorts you will ever see outside of a skin magazine. The farms and villages all look just like WWII pictures.
So I say GIMME EASTERN FRONT. "GIMME ALL YA GOT", Al Pacino in "Heat".

Old Timer Panzer General fan. Maybe a Volksturm soldier now. Did they let Volksturm drive Panzers?

Yeah it is really a forgotten battle. But it was quite a major part of Barbarossa yet every history book or game highlight other battles and events of the early phase of Barbarossa. Would have been a cool thing for the 1941 DLC, I guess a standalone scenario or mini campaign are quite possible, though I think for a forgotten battle it's more likely to become a user made campaign.
