Can we get a level system
By this I mean can we adjust the Purchase Screen when opening a scenario? I mean make where we can ONLY purchase the lowest grade equipment that we have in our force, Example if you have 2 Pnz2C's and 1 Pnz 1B then we would only be able to purchase 1B's in the Tank Purchase screen, until all tanks in your force are advanced to the next Tier which leads to the next topic below.
Can we get it where our units progress up the equipment chart by gaining its own prestige and once it hits a certain amount your given a choice of upgrading the unit to the next level for that piece of equipment (example PZ1A to a PZ1B) OR you can take a random commander (Hero or whatever you call them). Now once you reached the limit of that equipments tier then it can jump to the next tier (exp. Pnz1 to a Pnz2) so in essence you can eventually climb all the way to the top end of each equipment...King Tiger for tanks is an example. You could still use Prestige for replacements as we do now so if you need to bring in reinforcements then you use your prestige as a General to call them in.
Sorry but this game is kinda of bland and the enjoyment factor drops off rather quickly because I have no connection with any of my units, some players might get into the game as is but for me its just missing the fun factor or the COOOOLLLL my Unit finally got upgraded to a Panther...as we have it now its just Buy/Upgrade to the best and thats it... nothing else, no strategy involved there unless you have trouble deciding which finger to use to click the mouse button with.
I might add almost every Battle is my blob of top tier equipment versuses your blob of top tier equipment, if you had a per unit prestige you would see a very diverse battlefield rather then what it is now and there would be some tough choices when you have to decide between upgrading the equipment or take a awesome commander for your unit. Then maybe the Campaigns would not have to be Top Tier Blob vs. a whole lotta top tier Blob.
I like the game just lose intrest playing it after about 20 mins...put it this way I bought the 1939, 1940 DLC and have played 2 scenarios in the 1939 pack and shelfed the game. Just my 2 cents....but these are just my opinions not a demand or anything.

If you keep playing you might find you get very connected with some of your units once they gain heroes and awards. I'm usually quite fond of my Knight's Cross, Attack +5 tanks.
If the game isn't interesting enough to you, you may want to play on a harder setting. You might start losing units so fast you won't have time to become attached to them

If you would keep playing you would discover some points of interest:
1) If you play on FM level you can't upgrade all of your units to the best equipment available all the time. Once you beat the original campaign on FM you unlock more interesting difficulty levels where having all your units upgraded to the best equipment will be something very rare.
2) Experienced units (over 2-3 stars) even with old equipment are more effective than green units of the best equipment available, therefor related to point 1, you will be put in the situation of either upgrading the experienced unit to the best equipment and not having enough prestige to buy a new unit, or leave the veteran unit with the obsolete equipment and purchasing an additional green unit. At this point of the game you will have your connection with the veteran units.

No need for the snide remark, you have your tastes in games I have mine, and if you find the current game fun well good for you I'm happy for you. I personally find the system lacking and pretty much a carbon copy of PG and I can get that game free at alot of sites and it has 100's of free MOD's (Including ones I have done) so most people I know wont bother getting this game because of that. Why not add something different?Longasc wrote:Well, I am not sure if I would find this system in a somewhat historical wargame "cool" or have a "fun factor". Quite the opposite.
You might want to play League of Legends. Seems to be more up your alley.
Let me clarify:
I play on the HARDEST LEVEL and still meet my objectives, so changing levels is not a option.
Do I want a over the top Micro Manage game...HELLL NOO!!! (Thats why I don't recomend resources, or supply lines or any how do you say HISTORICAL aspects.)
Will I end up just Modding this game myself...Hell YESSS!!!
OOh and I'm a Combat Vet. so if your thinking I'm some kid wanting a D&D game your sadly mistaken I want a FUN game that has high a replay value. (MAG 42 Det. A MWSS 471 *formerly* NAS Milington, TN)

Lastly if your going to be snide atleast pick a OPEN SOURCE D&D style free game that plays like PG: ((Battle for Wesnoth)), but of course you knew that.

This is gonna be a 1st for me. I'm gonna respond to a "the game's broke and this or that needs to be fixed thread".jokerrr88 wrote:No need for the snide remark, you have your tastes in games I have mine, and if you find the current game fun well good for you I'm happy for you. 1st off let me apologize on behalf of the community for the snide remark,,that's an abberation in this community.
I'm a Vet also (and yes I was places where people where rude enough to send rounds down range in my direction ,, to which I reciprocated wholeheartedly and with great vigor...). That being said.....
I salute your service,,and I could see bringing being a veteran up if you where talking about unit behavior/morale/espirit de' corps'/elan or even rate of fire/range/ammo usage,,but not to prove that your not a kid .
This game is not PG nor is it close to it,,there are many "pg'esk" things about it,,but it's not PG at all.
The game is also quite successfull world wide and would not be if was just a cloned and/or revampod copy of PG .People are not stupid..they (Slitherine/Lordz/Matrix) would not have sold as many copies. People would not buy it.
If you play the whole campaign and the DLC's on higher difficulty levels you will not be able to uprade your units to "top shelf",,but if you say you have and still are able to make DV's and still upgrade everything to "top shel",,my hat goes off to you
The Heroes that you derided (or as you put it "whatever you call them") are an integral part of the game and weigh very much towards the "COOL my unit just got upgraded to Panther" aspect, as does the experience level.
Having a unit w/ numerous heroes and a high level of experience (which ussally means it's been around awhile) and being able to see it's combat record are a very big part of the games appeal and player immerison factor.
In response to the tier suggesgation,,suppose the unit in question doesn't get enough "kills" to be able to upgrade?,,theoretically you would wind up with a Pz. IA in 1942 and having a useless piece of equipment. This means having to sell it and buying something "top shelf" that will survive and be usefull,,which kinda' defeats your arguement.
You mentioned modding......do it. Speaking from experience this game is easy to mod (and was designed w/ modding in mind) the community and deveolpers are very helpfull and knowledgeable
Instead of saying "this is broke",,,trying fixing it. The devs support modding because they knew that they couldn't please everybody. I myself found somethings that I didn't like (as have others),,but instead of "this is broke" or "this needs to be done" I and others fixed what we percieved as problems and made mods available for like minded individuals.
I hope you try the game some more and try modding..I will help if possible
....that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain.......and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.

I suspect by "hardest level" you mean Field Marshall. There are three other bonus difficulties on top of that, with Manstein being the hardest for the DLCs. If you are beating the game on that difficulty easily without saving/reloading, then you are a player far beyond any of the forum members.
On that difficulty, I actually do get the best possible equipment in general. I should say "optimal," not best, for instance, I still keep Bf-109Es around alongside the F-series, or I still use the 10.5 cm arty which is extremely good against those Russian conscripts, etc. However, I may not upgrade all ART/INF/AT to have the 200 prestige half-tracks and would be content with trucks. I don't even like the fancy half-tracks that much, I find they are not really necessary, even for Russia (which is a bit of a problem, I think trucks need to have their movement cost for clear terrain increased).
I find, through my personal modding efforts, that Rommel with -75% prestige is very interesting. Completely different from Manstein, but with comparable difficulty. No chance of getting the best possible equipment, or even of filling out your core a lot of the times.

Re: Can we get a level system
I thought I would quote MY comment seeing how it seems everyone didn't read that part and just jumped to conclusion. I have my opinions on games and I'm sure everyone else has aswell (not just this game) thats the glory in posting what YOU like or dislike in something, because we are all different but hey like I said I'll probably just mod it to my liking and everyone else can enjoy what they have, works for me.jokerrr88 wrote:Just my 2 cents....but these are just my opinions not a demand or anything.
Salute everyone!!!
And yes Deducter Manstein is what I play and yes I do get victories (not always decisive) and only time I save is when I'm done playing for the day because makes no difference if I win or lose it matters if it was a fun victory or loss, its just a game to me.
Well this sounds good then, you're getting both DV and MV on Manstein, so it surely challenges you reasonably well? I guess your argument isn't that the game is too easy, but rather you dislike getting the best possible equipment all the time. I have not tried it, but I suspect I would not be able to win nearly all DVs without the best equipment on that difficulty, which is sort of the nature of this difficulty. All I can say is, if you want to play with a severely understrength core, then your best bet is either to impose your own limits that you described in your first post, which is easily done by simply not buying more advanced panzers until you have the earlier ones. Or you can reduce prestige levels to -75% or more of the base game, which I guarantee will force you to use the cheap tanks.
From your first post, you said you only played 2 scenarios in the DLCs. Then the rest of your experience came from the stock campaign, which I find myself unable to play any more after playing the fine products that are the DLCs. I urge you to try playing more of them, as they get better and better.
