Doubles comp
Good work Dave and Ian
So how does this comp work - does each payer command half of the army (eg 6 bgs on the left and 6bgs on the right) or does one have all of the cav and one the infantry, or can you do whatever works best?
Do you find it often turns into one player v the other player across the table, like often happens in casual games?

Hi Muz
In our games generally 1 person controlled the left half of the table and the other controlled the right half of the table. It is also helped if both players kept an eye on each other to ensure both were operating towards the same goals, as well as ensuring no obvious mistakes were being made.

Thanks to Dave and Nik, Hammy and Eric, Nigel and Neil and Dino and Samantha for four jolly good games and Richard for organising a thoroughly good event.
It looks like you visited the Ian Stewart "victory" school- obviously he can turn any looser into a winner!

Re: Doubles comp
Everyone does it differently. Some split the table, some take a certain amount of troops, some keep swapping around, in some teams one of the players may just roll dice. Whatever suits the team. Some discuss every move with each other and others just get on with it no matter what their partner thinks.muz177 wrote:So how does this comp work

One player just sits and smiles while the other player moves all the troops.
Players debate in great detail and still one player moves all the troops.
One player goes for a fag break, the other player moves all the trooops, player 1 returns and wants to change the moves.

Isn't it remarkable that I managed to predict the exact final positions when allocating team numbers.philqw78 wrote:Dave R requested round by round results. Obviously to show how much work Ian had to do for him
However, it does at least show what an easy draw the winners had, compared with the teams that came 2nd and 5th.
Kudos to Dave for revealing this.

One player gets stroppy, the other stands up and looks big if there's a chance of anything kicking off
One player sings the main line of the songs, the other chips in with the harmony. Until such point that the opponent shouts at them to shut up, after which they both play in French Mime.
One player says "let us know when you've finished debating all your moves in detail", the other has a kip under the table
One player wears sartorial elegance, the other dresses drably
One player flukes killing a general on a double 6 having lost the melee horribly, the other player does a happy dance down the hall
