Short Tutorial of painting 15mm Corvus Belli Marian Romans

i have made a short painting tutorial for my marian romans

the blog is in german - but it shouldn't be a big problem to know the names of the model-parts and the suitable colors i used.

Ehem, saying that there would be no problem to understand German... anyway, Google translator is our friend!

I liked them very much. Very nice paint job.

I have a couple of questions. Is this color for the wood?
Foundry Spearshaft 13 A + B The translator goes wild with that part

And for the sandals?
Buffalo brown? That is what my translator says...

oh, the google translator is a really nice tool (if you like to have fun

).

question 1) pilum - spearshaft - yes its the foundry color spearshaft 13 a + b. you know the foundry color-system? the works for each color with three color-shades (shadow - base and highlight) so you buy one color and get 3 pots - color a is the shadow, color b is the base and color c is the highlight-color of the color).

for the shoes, the sandals i used Foundry Buff Leather 7A.

Thank you! I have never used Foundry paints and I might give them a try. Those brown looked natural

i like foundry paints very much. all french napoleonic figs on my blog are painted with foundry paints - in kevin dallimore-style (3 layer painting).

now 8 of them are on their litko-bases and they have their shields. in the near future there will be a base-tutorial.

hi,

i know this site - the problem, they havn't any transfers for marian (republic rome) romans. only for imperials romans.

True! I have thought about using either the Republican Roman brand in the extras sections

or the legionary thunderbolt of the Imperial or some of the Auxiliary

I think there should be not much problem in adapting those and they would work better than Little Big Men Transfers

Thats maybe because there is little written contempery evidence of shield transfers, well non that i could find at least so my romans are transfer free.

Very nice. I like painting shields - helps me relax for some strange reason - so unless there's historical evidence that shields weren't painted I'm inclined to paint them.

You will be relieved to know that there is clear evidence that Roman shields were painted, inside and out.

Exactly what and what colors though......
