CEaW Wiki Update - Need Ideas & Recommendations

Post by amcdonel »

To All,

A different recent posting here - "Growing the Hobby" - mentioned updating the CEaW wiki page as part of a campaign to raise exposure of CEaW and more specifically, Grand Strategy expansion. I am planning on starting to edit the wiki page for the entry "Commander - Europe at War".

I would appreciate any ideas on content, topics or other relavent points for adding to this page.

BTW - I am on the Grand Strategy (GS) development team as the documentation person. Yeah - I do the manuals & brochures, etc. I appreciate any ideas on these also. The new GS 2.1 manuals will be available in PDF, Kindle (.mobi) and iBook (.epub) formats that work on a full range of eBook readers on tablets, Smartphones and PC/MACs.

That's a great idea amcdonel. I've just recently purchased CEaW (about a week ago) and have been ploughing through the manuals/brochures etc. in preparation for my first game (against the AI initially). I'd find a Wiki format to be extremely helpful for cross-checking things. There are limited options for searching and cross-linking a 450-page manual after all.

Keep up the great work, I can see I'm going to have a helluva time with this game, thanks to the GS expansion.

Welcome to the game. The AI is not great, and the GS modders did not make any improvements to the AI. With all the great additions the modding team made I would say the AI has an even harder time coping in the mod than in the vanilla game. So, don't be surprised when the AI (especially the Axis AI) does really bone headed things. That being said, my experience against the AI is that it is more satisfying playing as Axis against the AI than playing as Allies against the AI.

Once you get a handle on game mechanics you should move to PBEM to really enjoy the experience. Plenty of newish players here looking for a game and the PBEM process is simple.

Best regards.
