trouble installing patch.

Post by frighteningfred »

Hi to all..

i am having issues installing the patch. I first had a java issue but that was resolved with an upgrade to java 1.5. I got past that but now when I run the patch and it asks me to point it to the game directory (and I do) it will not install.. I have tried other directories inside that one but still no luck

Any thoughts?

Which patch are you referring to and where did you get it?

Since patch is only in beta, should not this be in the beta forum?
Patch will only work for the Slitherine version, Matrix will get their own patch once it is released.

He is not a beta tester - that's why I'm asking :)

WHOA

did not want to stir controversy.. I was just trying to play a pbem game with someone and they suggested upgrading to the 1.01 for better pbem play. He sent me a link to the patch.

I bought the game from Matrix so I guess that answers my question. I will wait for the Matrix version so I aplogize for the trouble.

Sounds like your beta tester opponent just lost his beta tester rights :)

Gentlemen

I apologize for any trouble this may have caused. I assure you that this incident was an honest mistake. At no time was there any "keep this under your hat but here is the patch" conversation. We just wanted to have a better pbem game and the patch was offered up to help. I did know that this patch was a beta nor did the sender say it was a beta. I have deleted the patch software and it did not work any way since I own a matrix version of the game. In the spirit of gaming you may be losing a valuable tester by excommunicating them from the beta site. Why don't we save the cut-throat attitudes for the game.

Fred the issue isnt with you.. your PBEM opponent - as a beta tester knew that they were not allowed to circulate the patch. So it doesnt matter if you knew or not.. its not about you.. its about them. They should be removed from beta team. This is a serious breach. It also sends a strong message to other beta testers.

I have informed this individual o f the issue and I left it up to them to come forward. This individual may have even thought i was a playtester and made an assumption. I have stated, I am please with this game. the testers did a great job. If this person was on that team to make the game as good as it is, I think you may be losing a valuable asset.
