Using our early 80yrs war dutch last night, and a couple of points popped up about Late Tercios. The first one concerns target priority. As they can shoot to a flank, counting that as the shooting edge, does this mean that if enemy are in line with the flank side of a LT, and are closer than enemy in front of the LT, these would become the "targetable enemy base within short range and at least partly straight ahead" and thus the priority target? Or would it remain the enemy actually in front of the tercio?
The second is arc of fire from the side of the tercio. Obviously, they are shooting from the "narrow" end, ie base depth has become the effective base width for forming a shooting edge. Is their arc of fire a base width from this narrow edge (IE 40mm in 15mm scale)? Or is the arc of fire the "new" base width?(ie 20mm in 15mm scale)
Sorry if this is not explained well, probably needs a diagram to make it clear. Hopefully someone can provide clarification.
