Idea for difficulty increase

Post by El_Condoro »

I always thought it was strange in PG2, and now in PzC, that we can see the state of the enemy units' supply - ammo and fuel. It would make it much harder to plan attacks if we couldn't see information like that.

For example, when attacking a strong tank, say a Tiger II - rather than saying 'hmm, it has 2 ammo left - I can do that' we might say 'am I willing to risk that it is on full ammo?' Similar with fuel - I see the KT is low on fuel so I surround it to prevent its refueling. Without that knowledge I might elect to stay well clear.

I think it would add to the difficulty of playing the game - so perhaps an element of a harder difficulty level? Thoughts?

Good idea!

I'd like to see an intelligence system based on how far is the enemy unit. For example three hexes away hide everything except unit type, two hexes away reveal strength, adjacent reveal stuff like experience, suppression etc. It would make recon units much more valuable.

Maybe you could see it with recon units in spotting range, but not with "normal" ones? Could make recce more valuable...(edit: to add to what Dragos said)

I really like these ideas. Would add to the gameplay.

There are some good ideas here IMO - dragos' idea is a bit like People's General IIRC and would require a fair bit of programming, I think, but would be great. bebro's idea would certainly make recons much more useful (prestige increase needed to purchase) and would make attacks more 'realistic' as it would be unlikely that an attack would be made without doing the proper reconnaissance first. My idea is doable now - just hide the ammo and fuel amounts when hovering over an 'enemy' unit. Any comment from the people who can make it happen? :)

I agree, it is rather odd that you can see the fuel and ammo levels of enemy units. The recon options are good but I like the simpler (and perhaps possible for the next update?) El_Condoro's suggestion of just getting rid of them. Perhaps this could be a set to a difficulty level (ie those above Colonel).

Cheers
