Hi
I have completed several Grand Campaigns and Campaigns 39,40,41 without a single issue. Last week I have purchased new sound card, ASUS Xonar DX and now game crashes constantly. When crash occurs I hear repeating sound and I have to disable audio device to stop it. I don't have any issues with other games and I firmly believe my new sound card is not defective.

Hi welcome.
Yes indeed she might not be defective. However during the card installation something broke the Windows MCI or codecs/filters, and that's the reason why you're having crashes when playing it. The reason why you don't have any problem with other games, is that they use a different API (application programming interface) for playing sound and video. Most games use DirectShow but Panzer Corps use MCI. If you had any other game or other application that used MCI, it would crash too.
It can be something that the card have installed and disrupted the system in which MCI is concerned.
It's not easy to solve these kind of issues, because they are embedded in your system. However there a few things we can try.
You can begin by converting the wav sound files to mp3. The issue might be only related with wav files and not mp3.
Here is a package already converted:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4085857/Audio.zip
First let me ask you to make a backup of the files you want to replace.
You'll find those files in Panzer Corps\Audio subfolder. Some of the wav files you'll find there, but notice that Panzer Corps\Audio\MoveSfx and Panzer Corps\Audio\AttackSfx subfolders also have wav files to be replaced.
Remember that you'll have to erase those files from those subfolders after decompressing the file with the mp3 ones.
Also please rename the "Video" subfolder to "_Video", just in case.
Start the game and see if there are any improvements and report back.
Do you have any coded pack installed, like K-lite?

Thank you very much for fast reply
I had Windows Essential Codec Pack and yesterday I have uninstalled it. I installed latest K-lite 32bit and 64bit codecs but it didn't help.
I am IT professional and developer so copying and replacing will not be a problem
I will backup Audio folder and sub folders with wav files and use your mp3 files.
Also, I will trace in PerfMon and Process Explorer what processes and codecs are started
I will let you know what was result.

I replaced all wav files with mp3 but that didn't solve problem and game crashed very often.
After that I searched for any similar problems on ASUS forum and I found that GX option can sometimes cause game crashes
GX option enables DirectSound 3D Game Extensions mode to support EAX and DirectSound 3D Hardware extensions for lots of DirectX/
DirectSound3D games on Windows Vista and XP.
After I disabled GX option, I didn't have a single crash. I have played two scenarios and game was stable as usual (or better to say; before I installed ASUS Xonar DX sound card
