But what to do - A&M or R?
Will they each be one big period if it's the Worlds?
Any official word on this?

AM of course - and if you could persuade all the other good R players to do the same the rest of us would be grateful

Ugh. I was afraid of that. Nothing better after a hard day's gaming then coming back to an 80 degree hotel room with a window that only opens 2". Maybe given that this is Manchester I can find somebody who's willing to smash in my window in exchange for all of my stuff.philqw78 wrote:This is Manchester. They may have a window, but that may have been boarded up. If it hasn't you might want to.iversonjm wrote:Do any of the accommodation options have air conditioning?philqw78 wrote:Accommodation is in with the price, and you must take accn to enter. From just over £100 to about £300 depending on standard of accn and no. of nights.
See the Northern Doubles League links in the UK 2012 calendar for what its like.
Or maybe I should just pack a hammer.

80 in Manchester
(that's about 26 in real money I think)

IIR, it was only 70 something in Manchester, but about 80 in my room. Unfortunately the same security mechanisms designed to keep the prowlers out also did a bang-up job of keeping the stagnant air in.nikgaukroger wrote:iversonjm wrote:Nothing better after a hard day's gaming then coming back to an 80 degree hotel room with a window that only opens 2".

It seems, however, that there are in fact hotels with AC in Manchester. Quite reasonably priced, too.
Where abouts in Manchester? Avoid Moss Side.iversonjm wrote:IIR, it was only 70 something in Manchester, but about 80 in my room. According to the google map its on London Rd due east of the student union and just south of Picadilly. In fact, it appears to be closer to the union than the Day's Inn is.dave_r wrote:Where abouts in Manchester? iversonjm wrote:Thanks. I'll check there as well. Their website didn't mention AC but it might well not mention it.nikgaukroger wrote:Actually, the Ibis on Charles St has aircon and is cheap.
I'd drop them a line and check, but I'm pretty certain the room I had when I stayed there for work a year or so back did - but you know what memory is like

Britcon is residential, or at least always has been and I'd assume was still going to be this year unless the new team say otherwise. The accommodation is basic, think student accommodation - however, you spend very little time in it.

Why I live there, can't think of any hotels mind their might be a dogey B and B though. The last sign i saw £20 a night at the Saluation pub near Oxford road (above a pub might suit some)dave_r wrote:Where abouts in Manchester?
