VERY FEW TIGERS and early ones with mechanical problems AND NO PANTHERS OR Panzer Jager Armor besides the basic Marders. Not too exciting to me against Shermans, Matildas, Crusaders, Stuarts, Lees and Grants.
Old Timer Panzer General fan. Maybe a Volksturm soldier now. Did they let Volksturm drive Panzers?
Well, if the Afrika Korps wouldn't have been defeated in early 1943, there would have been Panthers, Jagdpanzer IV a. s. o. in africa.flakfernrohr wrote:VERY FEW TIGERS and early ones with mechanical problems AND NO PANTHERS OR Panzer Jager Armor besides the basic Marders. Panzer III & co. may not be "exciting" compared to the allied tanks, but - if one might say so - they did a formidable job against their opponents.
Mh77,
Excellent point.
Some other things to consider..
How hard is it to ship a tiger and panther to Africa compared to ussr?
Also the allies sank a lot of transports!
One last thing, Rommel did not employ tactics that required the big heavy tanks. He broke through the lines set up AT guns and let the Brits attack him.
Tanks were used to then mop up.

One of the biggest problems for the Germans in North Africa, especially as 1942 turned into 1943, was managing to get supplies across the Med Sea. The Brits managed to sink tons of supply ships, and this caused big problems for the Afrika Corps. God only knows how many transports full of German army equipment (and panzers) are sitting at the bottom of the Med Sea. As such, there was almost always a problem with inadequate numbers of troops and equipment to fight. I wonder if this "lack of supplies/equipment" issue will some how be incorporated into the North Africa DLC?

As the war progressed, the Germans increasingly were hard pressed from several directions. They tended to favor the hottest flashpoints with their immediate attention since they were limited by the number of units that were capable of putting out fires. Only so many firetrucks in a city ablaze is what it was akin to. North Africa was an effort to bolster the failure of the Italians in holding on. So it was always relegated to at best an area of secondary importance. You can theorize all you like, but in reality had the Germans been able to retain a portion of North Africa, when Overlord came to Northern France and after the retreat to the Dneiper River in Ukraine and Belarus, the likelihood of a large number of German armor units equipped with the latest technology going to Africa would still have received little attention by German Command. They had far more pressing issues closer to home, like defending the Fatherland.

Agreed!steelwarrior wrote:the most important thing is that all released content can be combined to one huge campaign - then i will be very happy

@flakfernrohr: Of course africa was less important to the OKW than the eastern front. No doubt about that.
But nevertheless: If Panzer Corps claims to cover the whole second world war (at least) from the german perspective, it has to cover north africa (italy, normandy, a. s. o.) as well.

I look forward to a detailed breakdown of the D-Day landings in a future DLC. Does anyone remember the 1990s PC game "V for Victory: Gold, Juno, Sword", which simulated the British and Canadian landings and the aftermath. Man I loved that game, and it would be great to rein-act this using the PzC engine.

I'm happy to play the Axis sides for ever more to be honest.
