Leaders

Post by gsmart04 »

Hoping someone can educate me, here. I've looked in the documentation and brochures but haven't been able to find more about it.

What do leaders actually do in the game and how important are they? I know how to see their quality and range and what they might add to attacking and defense with the unit they're attached to, but what is "quality"? What do leaders really add to the units within their range?

Quality is the effectiveness the leaders add to the unit they're attached to.

Is it just the unit they're attached to or is it all units within their range? Otherwise what meaning does 'range' have?

Thanks for answering!

Ah I got confused there. The effectiveness boost is for all units within the range (whether in front, behind or on either side) but the Ground Attack/Defence boosts are only for the unit it's attached to.
In spite of the Final Fantasy character it's pronounced sao-win after the Irish pagan god of death. I'm not a pagan but we're on a wargames website so I thought it fitting.

Thanks! Now I understand. The great thing about Matrix and Slitherine is the message boards and how friendly and helpful everybody is!

If you click on an unmoved unit with a leader then you will see hexes within range as orange or purple (overlap with another leader). This way you can calculate which units benefit from the leader.

The max morale for the unt is increased by 2 * leader quality. So with Manstein (quality 8 ) you can get a max morale boost of 16.

I've got a feeling this may be a dumb question but are effectiveness, efficiency and morale the same or do they differ...the manual is a little confusing on this (at my age anyway).
