By Johann Voss, very good read! Combat memoir by a soldier of the Waffen-SS, highly recommend!

Sorry, I'm not trying to be a smart a**, but Sajer was in Gross Deutschland, not the Waffen SS.b52pilot1 wrote:Also try "The Forgotten Soldier" by Guy Sajer. Another Waffen SS memior and a fantastic book!
Old Timer Panzer General fan. Maybe a Volksturm soldier now. Did they let Volksturm drive Panzers?
A similar book to BE is "Twilight of the gods" wich came out in Jan 46 in Sweden. Its extremly famous and becouse of the fact that wallin (the man who the book is based on) didnt say he was sorry for beeing in Waffen SS, wich of course is controversial and extremly rare.
This book was banned after the first publishing in Sweden and was extremly rare to find in antiquarian-booksellers if one were lucky.
Anyway its been realeased again now in the mid 00's. It starts on new years eve 44/45 and continues on throughout the rest of the war and how Erik wallin escaped Berlin after its fall to Sweden.
If you like BE you'll probaly love this one too, highly recomended.
PS
There are some references to the "untermensh" etc in there but considering its written right after the war and that Wallin were a true Nazi more or less (he was approached by many neo Nazi's to aid there couse but never accepted, but were known in those circles).
Great read about a true warrior of the WW2 though!
