About Grand Campaign ‘42
March 20th, 1942
Poland, Norway, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, France, Yugoslavia, and Greece. All of these nations have fallen under occupation, and it was assumed that Russia would quickly join their ranks. Not only has the Russia Bear survived the invasion of 1941, but its winter offensive is still in full swing! Take command of your forces once again in the latest installment of the Grand Campaign as you repel Soviet offensives and begin the fateful advance between the Don and Donets towards Stalingrad!
This DLC features 15 all new scenarios, a sprawling urban combat environment of Stalingrad, new campaign features, unique objectives such as escorting train convoys and smashing enemy reinforcements as they attempt to cross the Volga River, and the capacity to save your core force for use in future campaigns!
The Grand Campaign’s are a series of expansions for Panzer Corps and require Panzer Corps. Each campaign can be started with the core force from the previous Grand Campaign, so you can continue all Grand Campaign expansions carrying over all the core forces that completed the previous ones. Alternatively players can start with a preset core force and play each campaign on its own, or jump in to the Grand Campaign at any year.

I wonder and am curious if DLC 42 and later DLCs in the grand campaign will follow the historical path (soviets start taking initiative in the east and germans becoming more defensive) or if there will be some fictional option like in the vanilla campaigns (sealion ...). I dont really want the scenario makers to reveal this, but what do the players think about it? What would you prefer? I personally think the fictional part is well covered in the vanilla campaigns and would rather like to see it stick to the historical way.
The Grand Campaign will be sticky to the historical path.
That doesn't mean, there couldn't be extra DLC that couldn't link the Grand Campaign to other non historical scenarios, and thus give the chance to play it in both ways. This way would please all sides. I sense there are some people who prefer to play the historical, while others want also to play alternative history.

I have been waiting for this mod and the ones that follow because I prefer to play on the mid and late war scheme of things. I'll be buying all the rest. When I add my post 1945 maps and campaigns, what a deal. We can fight until the grandchildren are conscripted.
Old Timer Panzer General fan. Maybe a Volksturm soldier now. Did they let Volksturm drive Panzers?

I think the best part about the DLCs is that you get to use your tank models longer. Most of the time there is no reason to upgrade all the time because something way better will come along. I almost never use Tigers in most campaigns because the Panthers come so fast after, but when you have 15 scenarios per year, it's a long way between Tigers and Panthers. I can't wait to finally use them!!
I also like the full upgrade charge if you change chassis. I don't remember using a whole lot of PZ IIIs before DLC, but now I find them very useful. Currently I'm running 4 PZ IV, 4 PZ III, 1 CharB, 2 T-34, and 1 KV-1B. Honestly, I was so happy when I saw that KV-1B pop up. It was like an early Christmas present. It's so much better than any of the other tanks available in DLC 41.
I'll probably keep some PZ IIIs around until 7.4.1943 when the Panther D comes along. Then I'll be upgrading everything to Panthers because it's my favorite tank of the war. Well, maybe not the CharB, I'd like to see if I can keep that around the whole Campaign.

Keep the DLC coming!
I have bought all of them - even though I am still just playing the long camp from the original game!
I sure hope that down the line we will start seeing some DLC from the Allied side of things, give me some Pacific stuff and I will buy your games forever! Who am I kidding - I will anyway!

Couldnt wait no longer for 42 and started to play the DLCs series from scratch on field marshal, so hopefully I can reach the end of 41 when 42 is released.
I tried an alternative playing style different to my first play through and I wanted to share it here, because I think its very enjoyable and increases the challenge:
Now that I vaguely can remember where the enemy is coming from and with what strength its easier than my first play through of the DLCs 394041 on general level and I always go for decisive victories and all captured units. This time I recruit fresh troops on every map start to train them and to keep my veteran units in reserve. this way I can build a big and trained reserve. in general difficulty level at the end of 39 my prestige was 2800 and i had a core of 22. this time I had a core of 33 and a prestige of about 800 at the and of DLC39, but all of them had experience of at least 1 star. my idea was: prestige doesnt gain experience, so better spend it and have the option to upgrade old but experienced equipment in later DLCs if needed.
Now I´m in DLC 40 and I also like to use units like the Panzer1B or cheap antiair guns or the Feldkanone artillery which seldomly run out of ammo and can afford elite replacements, if severly damaged. I built a stock of like 4 Panzer1Bs and use them occassionally for supporting my better equipped troops with mass attack or hunting down damaged enemy troops. they can be upgraded/repalced to PanzerIII and IV if needed. Also unit losses dont hurt that much with fresh & cheap unexperienced troops and if I lose a more expensive unit I use the slot with a replaced and upgraded veteran stock unit from my reserves.
Overall my current core design has a lower punch force and I need all turns for victory, I often rather lay siege on cities than rushing in with an overpowered uberunit, but I hope at the end of DLC41 I can have a core of about 50 units with 1 star experience each to start the DLC42.
btw I use my junkers air transports extensively to fly in infantry reinforcements to remote air fields, I thought that I could bring in the lowest anti tank equipment pk36 or the feldkanone FK 16 artillery but it doesnt work (any more?). could it be that it was possible to fly in anti tank or light artillery (if the piece had no truck attached) before the last updates and it is not working any more? maybe I just do not remember it right...

I'm all for both. I love this game for the sheer play of it. It gets the general idea of WW2 combat across without being or pretending to be a history lesson and I'm fine with that. The historical path will be fun but a fantasy history would be fascinating too...and sometimes more of a good thing is just 'more good'.VPaulus wrote:The Grand Campaign will be sticky to the historical path.
