Having finished the 39 campaign and being into 40, I have to say that after Warsaw the prestige problems are gone. So the trade-off for using elite replacements is not having the best equipment and maximum number of core units for the first 5-6 scenarios.

Thanks, impar. I've just completed Kampinoska Forest. Luckily I bought a second Pioniere for this scenario or I never would have been able to take Modlin Fortress. Guess what? I've decided at least 3 Pionieres are now essential in my force structure, whether they are short-legged or not. Modlin Fortress is a 15-strength montrosity with an Entrenchment Level of 8, not to mention the 3 20-Strength Polish Mountain Troops surrounding it and your pioniere can only attack from a single hex! Ai-yai-yai, who's the sadist who designed this scenario? Great scenario, though, by Turn 14, I didn't have any fingernails left to chew on.

You took Modlin in the Kampinoska scenario?!
I stayed well away of it.
Did send cavalry or recon to pass the river and take the airport and city behind it.

@impar - I couldn't resist the siren call of more prestige from Modlin Fortress and the Warsaw airfield. Very fortunate with the weather though. If I had even one turn of bad weather, I seriously doubt I could have taken Modlin. 2 new Stukas for this scenario ended up 162 and 163XP! Not complaining though. :D

Of course I got another 222, the added mobility and the bonus against AT will come handy.
The 222 works amazingly well (and cheap!) for the polish scenarios.

Agree on the Sd Kfz 222. Very handy also in "mopping up" empty city hexes and freeing your tank and infantry. On DLC '39, I'm using it in most scenarios unlike the stock Panzer Corps campaign, where I couldn't spare the core slot for it.

Yup, recon cars didn't see a lot of use in the stock campaign and we really wanted to address that issue.
Most people are finding they are unquestionably invaluable in the DLC campaigns, even if their attrition rate is very high. :D
