AAR Vypuero (Axis) vs Johan (Allies).

I am curious to see how the game balance is going and to see how the Axis vs Allies bias is, since it has caused alot of discussions lately. Playing against the creator of all scenarios Vypuero (=Kurt Eichert). I have played him before and he is a tough opponent!

After first Axis turn, this is how Poland looks. Axis made a ok breakthrough with armour at the front.

October 1939:
Axis invade and conquer Denmark. Axis conquer Warsaw so Poland surrender. Axis lonely sub appear in north Atlantic attacking one Convoy but is nearly sunk in return by the Royal navy.

December 1939:
Axis invade Norway already, ok it means they get Norway faster but instead that means the German tactical bomber will be missing in the west for a while

I reinforce Oslo Garrison to try delaying the Axis as much as possible. Also, sending a motorized Infantry and some navy towards the Mediterranean to be ready later on when Italy join. UK invest in laboratories, while France build corps and also some Garrison (to easier fill out the thin lines).

March 1940:
Axis is early, they have conquered Norway and Holland already and now invading Belgium. But Axis advance abit cocky along the coast and get counters, 1 German Armour destroyed

Axis close to a breakthrough near Luxemburg area. My strategy now is too hold firm and delay them, it will take a lot of time hopefully for them to move past

August 1940:
French line broken, but we managed to hold on for very long. In the Mediterranean, Allies are attacking near Tobruk and also some naval battles.

September 1940:
France fell. The lack of a Commander might have slowed Germany down so we will see from this point how Axis will fare, so fare I think Allies have a bit upper hand.

November 1940:
I withdraw my air units far north in Britain. I suspect with Norway already conquered, Axis might decide to go for Britain so I need to be cautious. The Stronghold at Tobruk holds on despite being attacked and with Mongomerie leading the forces. I might have to realize that Tobruk is too cost and withdraw to the Quattara depression choke point instead. I got L1 Strategic Operations, nice with a little extra range and spotting. Cost too upgrade so I will maybe pass on a few units for now.

Luftwaffe attack UK BB in Chatham Sea Port.

Mistake, my BB was closed inside Chatham Sea Port, subs waiting for it when it tried to leave. UK loses one BB. Axis seem to have a lot of air units positioned near English Channel. Battle of Britain have started!

December 1940:
Axis invade Yugoslavia, I did not expect that so hopefully this means Axis wont be so strong in Africa and no Sea-Lion in the near future also, I hope…

The tech situation is that UK bought 7 labs so far, USA and USSR at their so far maximum 3 labs. USSR have 2 of them in Infantry with focus on Anti-Tank. I want to try to be able to withstand the German Armour later on.

We both have more than 50 minutes left on our timer, so our turns are so far well below 5 minute per player and turn.

February 1941:
Yugoslavia is conquered by Axis now. I finally get L1 Dog Fight for UK, buying a 2nd fighter now for UK and upgrading fighter and 2 carriers. Maybe I can battle for air superiority now with Air Combat 5 vs 4 (unless Germany also got some tech). Axis have been very silent not using any air attacks at all after they sunk that BB some months ago. I wonder what they are up to. In Africa, my units are falling back to Quattara.

May 1941:
First Axis Sub attack in a long time. I wonder I this means Axis have built many Subs, I cannot know. Currently I have spent zero on ship building so it feels abit risky…

Since Axis make no claim on the air superiority and are abandoning Brest, I now pressure France with all my might to relief USSR for the oncoming Barbarossa. First air duel reveals German Dog Fight tech on L0 still. That’s the dilemma for Germany, they need to split their research into every area, while UK can neglect infantry and armour focusing more labs on air for instance. If Axis is going for a strong Barbarossa plan then Allies must act and counter somewhere on map.

In Africa, Axis show up with air and naval support and it is going to be very hard to hold them off. But, if I can just delay them, that means more time until Axis get hold of any new Oil Fields.

Big battles around Quattara now.

July 1941:
Still holding near Quattara but my Mediterranean Navy is falling back towards Ports for repairs. Also, near Britain I fall back since Axis air and Subs seen nearby and I do not have many BB or DD to protect my Carriers from incoming Subs.

Axis just invaded USSR!

Axis pour through USSR lines (how unexpected) and also kill a USSR armour unit. Germany reveal some Armour tech!

USSR will soon get AT upgrade for infantry though.

In the west, my upgraded Strategic Bomber damages Paris unopposed by Luftwaffe. This is gonna drain Axis economy a bit helping USSR. Allies use both air and carriers and kill a german fighter near Brest!

August 1941:
USSR front pushed back abit, but USSR manage to surround some Axis units cutting them off from supply for the moment at leist.

Eastern front is looking ok. In Africa, Egypt still holding but outnumbered so will fall soon. In the west, putting pressure on Cherbourg defender. Air superiority, Paris in ruins. Have started to bomb Brussels also. UK at Dog Fight L2.

Winter comes to USSR now, slowing down Axis movements.

January 1942:
Axis Sub Wolf Pack has been harassing north atlantic for a while now, UK with only 2 destroyers will still go there to help. USA just joined also and its navy will be helpful there too. In Africa, Allies navy took a beating, one remaining UK BB limping away through the Suez canal.

February 1942:

I doubt the french are going to thank you for that

Although, if you'd somehow managed to flatten only the 7th arrondissement, that might earn you some appreciation in certain quarters...

Allies attack some Subs and sink some also. In the east, Axis are starting to advanced rapidly and overrunning the Russians.
