I've started the GC twice (as Germans) and both times the Russians have entered in June 1940. The first time I diplo the Romanians and I understand that may have triggered it. The second time I didn't but I did diplo the Hungarians. Did that trigger it?

Next...when does France fall...seems like I'm chasing units all over the place ... Paris has already fallen.

Game play...I opted to play as Germans and also control many of the probable allies (Romania, Hungary, Italy, Persia, Bulgaria). Is playing all these countries a good idea...does it make for good game play?

I heard someone say that you should play the Human part as hard and the AI as easy...is this what I should do if playing the GC as Axis?

Any other game play suggestions would be appreciated. I have plenty of time to play this week and I'm anxious to get started on a fun campaign.

I always play that way. The minors can be used for many purposes, from the front line to garrison duty to anti-partisan actions. Germany can bleed them dry, taking a portion of their PPs, either through convoys or with F12. F12 is a cheat, but I use it to represent RR transport of PPs. I never take all a minor's PPs, but limit it to some percentage, like 10%. alternatively, if a minor's PPs are accumulated and spent on research, you can get some decent units later in the war from them.

I downloaded the fix for Russian entry...but they still attacked in August 1940. France has already fallen and I was in the process of moving forces east.

Did it have something to do with the Romanian and Bulgarian border dispute?

Yes, you need to start a new game or go back before Stalin demands Romania, May 1940
