Can Enemy Unit Entrench in Clear Terrain hex?

Post by jaggy »

While playing the Lodz scenario in DLC '39, I ran into a Polish 75mm wz.97 artillery unit which had an entrenchment level of 1. According to the Panzer Corps Library the base entrenchment level of a clear terrain hex is 0. Thanks in advance.

Afaik, units can entrench in clear terrain, but quite slow. As I understand it, base level is just the entrenchment the terrain type gives "as such", but it can still get higher with enough time, or when pre-set in the editor.

Yes, base entrenchment is the minimum entrenchment any unit in the location starts the next turn with. I recall having one infantry gaining 1 entrenchment over a river bridge in Piatek scenario, but it was not moved for a long time.

@bebro and @dragos - Thanks for the clarification. Good to know one can entrench even in clear terrain over time.
