Godendag 2008
I am planning on offering 15mm FoG as the main event at Godendag 2008 at Usk on 27th/28th January. (Although I will also be offering DBM for hold-outs).
Godendag is normally a doubles event, so the plan ould be to continue as such if there are enough entrants.
The question is how many points to choose for a doubles event with 3.5 hours per round.
I am leaning towards 900 points rather than the 1000 points previously proposed for doubles events, to try avoid too many timed out games. Any thoughts?

So far there have been a fair number of unfinished games among less experienced players. I believe that the 900 points is intended to have a better chance of results while people are still learning the game. I suspect that the 2009 event will be up to 1000 points a side.
I am definitley intending being there next year and may even stay in the same pub as last year. The idea of a bar that stays open till 2-3 in the morning appeals

Several of the pubs in Usk regularly do lock-ins - you would have to ask my son Ned, he is the expert.
I think that was the one. On the Friday night Martin and I were walking past the bar of our pub after leaing the one we had the first lock in in and noticed half the SAO comittee in the bar of our pub through the window. We had to stop for a chat and another beer or threerbodleyscott wrote:Where was that, the King's Head?hammy wrote: I am definitley intending being there next year and may even stay in the same pub as last year. Indeed. Jer and I managed to get locked into the Royal(?) one year. A pleasant experience.rbodleyscott wrote:Several of the pubs in Usk regularly do lock-ins - you would have to ask my son Ned, he is the expert.
I've not managed to pursuade Jer to migrate to FoG for Usk next year, I might have to play DBM!!!

As Usk is sometime away might I suggest that we try some 1000 point games and see if the game is delayed unduly.
I am hoping to be at Britcon by Friday lunchtime (traffic permitting) and would be more than willing to try out a 1000 point game in the afternoon.
I am playing 25mm DBM all weekend and so it would be good practice
