DLC 41: Belgrade: Captain Zunjic's 109D

Post by Plokiju »

Hello,

during Belgrade battle, an heroic/suicidal yugoslavian pilot "Captain Zunjic" counterattacks with a Me 109D.

I really don't have any idea who was this guy. So I found that:

- http://www.svetskirat.net/sliker/milos_g_zunjic.jpg

So actually he was piloting a 109E.

Nevermind. Thanks Panzer Corps'team for such intresting detail. It's making this game more fun and intresting.

PS: In the game, Zunjic's plane is a 'yellow' german 109 with balkankreuz... A little disturbing at first.

Actually not BALKAN-Kreuz but Balkenkreuz !

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balkenkreuz

Balken = timber, beam

Balkan = the balcans

There are more historical figures in the DLC's (in the main campaign aswell?), most of the time though I just see a tank and don't look at the description. There's a Captain Armand in the Dijon scenario I think.

It's a really nice touch!

Yes the DLC have 'named' elites that appear quite frequently.

Examples include Zunjic as we see in this thread (was actually a BETA user request) and...

General Freyberg makes an appearance in the Crete scenarios.

Kolobanov makes an appearance in the Leningrad scenario.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zinoviy_Kolobanov

Patton shows up in USA Mid West.

Wassigny scenario is based entirely on Giraud.

You can expect Yakov Pavlov to make an appearance in the Stalingrad scenario of DLC 1942:

These are just a few examples as well, there are many more.
It adds flavor to the game, both historical flavor and game play flavor (these enemy units are often high experienced and overstrengthed above normal).

There's a Soviet Lieutenant in DLC '39 -- in the Spolis of War scenario. He is the guy in the KV-2. I'm not sure what he did in The Great Patriotic War, but it must have been pretty cool.

Not sure about the war but he caused me grief last night - played Spoils of War for the first time (I always ignored it in the past). I can't see why anyone would take that scenario - lost huge amounts of prestige, probably lost experience in the end and got no reward. Anyway, sorry, OT...
