Scenarios up to Novoanninsky

Post by LostAgain »

A few comments and questions. First, I encountered a recurring problem with my one and only recon vehicle, (a 232). Sometimes if I did a partial move the shot would disappear, yet would still be there if i moved in another direction! Ocassionally at the start of a turn the shot wouldn't show, but would reappear when I moved the unit!

On another topic, I loved the Sevastopol Assault Scenario! VERY intense at the Colonel level!

Now for a few questions and (ahem) more suggestions...

1. Why are elite troops only infantry or tanks? I think the possibility that anything could turn up as elite would add an element of excitement! For example, a plane with a bit of a boost in attack or defense, initiative, whatever, would be a real boon.

2. Have you considered the possibility of letting a player add elite replacements in the field WITHOUT having to expend the PP to go all the way to 10? Frequently I find I have to "retire" a unit for the remainder of the scenario because I either can't or won't expend the PP to go all the way to 10.

3. A question; What are the arrows all about on the strategic map in the deployment screen? Am I missing something?

By 'shot' I assume you mean the ability to fire - the red cross hairs. They will show at the start of a turn and when a unit is in range (can be fired upon) so it will depend on what is in range as to when it displays. If an enemy is 2 hexes away it won't show, but if the enemy is forced to retreat adjacent it will display.

1. Might be a good idea - they were originally based on the idea of SS units but elite is a better designation so elite Luftwaffe could appear as you suggest.
2. This has been requested a number of times - not sure of its status.
3. The arrows are just deployment hexes - where you units can be placed.

Why is the "disappearing crosshairs" done for some units and not others?

Can you give an example? They work as designed for me. Any unit that can attack an enemy unit within range (hasn't already fired) will show the cross hairs. I think they display at the beginning of a turn by default.

What I mean is that a tank for example always shows it can still shoot, while with the recon vehicles it is inconsistant. If the fact that the unit can still shoot is not constantly displayed I'm prone to losing track of what I've used and what is still available. The very distinct possibility of a situation in which you WANT to move a recon unit into harms way but are hesitant because it may well not be able to retreat sufficiently if it isn't in fact still armed exists. At least for me it does.

With recons specifically it is a bug: as long as they still have moves and available attack action, they should show the crosshair too. It is removed only when a unit has spent all movement possibilities, and does not have any units to attack either. Thx for reporting.
