Number of Bases Shooting

A BG of 8 x MF, Bw 2 ranks deep are just under 6 MU's from a target battle group directly to their front. How many dice are used for shooting? What I am trying to establish is if the second rank of Bw are not being penalised for being out of effective range AND for being a rear rank.

Bases in the second rank of a BG are considered to be shooting from the location of the front rank. It is in the rules somwhere and I will locate it for you and point you there later today.

There is no double penalty. The BG shoots with 1 dice per 2 bases i.e. 4
