Xbox 360?

Post by Grimnirsson »

Well, the header says it all...is there *any* chance BA could be published for the Xbox 360? I mean this would be a killer game for the Xbox Live Arcade section, the box should be more than able to handle it, the controller is perfect for the BA controls, playing multiplayer via Live is easy and there are only a few turn based wargames available. Sitting in front of a huge HDTV to play this game would be beyond awesome :D

We've thought about it but not come to a conclusion yet!

Then do yourself a favor (and me too :P ) and don't miss the opportunity to use that platform. It shouldn't be that difficult to port the game over to the 360 and you could link the Xbox players to your servers (EA does that for example) to make the MP as easy as it is on the PC. There's a big player base on the 360...and these days it's the consoles where the money is made

This isn't an arcade game, it's a wargame. Please don't lower your sights Slitherine and sell out to the console-playing masses. I really don't think that the console market is the right demographic for this type of game.

Dont under estimate the cost of going 360! Its massive. If you fail the submission you get hit with a massive fine to resubmit (tens of thousands of Euros). This means you have to do a lot of testing which is very expensive. This plus age ratings and lots of additional costs that might not be obvious make it an expensive business.

What nonsense is this please? What are you? A self styled PC elitist? Come on, I could as well say 'you know I'm a real wargamer, because I play consims with hex maps and thousands of counters, with rule books hundreds of pages thick, not these pc wargames which are for those who can't learn complex rules and just want to click'...would be as a silly argument as yours is. I know it's a wargame, not an arcade game. XBL Arcade is just the name of a specific section of downloadable games for the 360, that's all. You find all genres there and all levels, from simple to quite challenging, so to publish a game for the arcade section of Xbox Live doesn't mean the game is in itself an arcade game.

Sure, I don't know the costs when going this route, but I see that even small titles often have a great success when published on XBL. And again, turn based wargames/strategy games are underrepresented there, so....

Sorry you feel that way. This was not meant as a troll post I was just expressing my opinion. Personally I'd rather see resources focused on improving BA on the existing platforms rather than moving into other arenas.
