Detaching and recombining foot BGs

The Landsknecht and Militia keils in the Later Venetian list must have integral Arquebusiers.

Say I had 4 Grand BGs each with 8 HF and 6 MF and wanted to detach all the shot from two of them.

Could I the combine the remaining HF into one 16 base GBG?

I suspect not as p183 in the rules says:

If shot are detached, [from a GBG] it must divide into, and subsequently be treated as, 2 normal battle groups...

However, if shot are detached from 2 GBGs (not the one GBG as mentioned in the rules) I don't see why the HF can't be treated in a similar way to other BGs and combined. The army's attrition points would remain the same...
