Idea for fast moving recon units
Would it be possible to create a new trait for fast moving recon units (like jeeps, motorcycles, etc.) so that they get a random chance to evade enemy attacks just like submarines do at sea? That'd probably be a nice feature to add some flavour to those (non-armoured) custom units...
I think it'd be great if ALL existing unit abilities could be realized via unit traits - or at least as many as possible. Though it seems some stuff has been hard-coded in ways that makes this hard or impossible to achieve - but maybe worth considering for a future version of the engine (i.e. possible sequel). It'd be cool if you could just give a tank the ability to direct-damage units more than 1 tile away, make it "invisible" (stealth tank!) or give it's attack the ability to suppress enemies and/or destroy their ammo reserves.

Re: Idea for fast moving recon units
Personally I find this a nice idea. However, what would be really nice would be if we coulkd mod the chance of evasion for these units, and others which use similar mechanics. IMO subs evade far too often, though of course I have no "scientifc" evidence, it's just an impression.Cortilein wrote:Would it be possible to create a new trait for fast moving recon units (like jeeps, motorcycles, etc.) so that they get a random chance to evade enemy attacks just like submarines do at sea? This has been discussed elsewhere and I made the point there that, yes, it is a good idea for the player's recon (and other) units but the AI will have the traits, too. I hate submarines as they are - I would hate to have to kill a whole lot of land-based 'submarines' - the AI's recons. That would make it possible for a 1 strength recon to hold up a 15 strength King Tiger for a number of turns - an extreme example, but possible (have you ever taken more than one turn to kill a sub with DDs?
)
