Contradictory rules
I've had the day off work to swot up for Roll Call. I think I have found a contradiction in the conforming to overlap rules "moving into contact with enemy battlegroups", paragraph two. This states that the move is not affected by restricted areas, but the restricted area rules contradict this.

MOVING INTO CONTACT WITH ENEMY BATTLE GROUPS
Battle groups can move into contact with enemy battle groups in the manoeuvre phase, but only to join an existing melee in an overlap position only. This is the only situation in which battle wagons can move into contact with enemy.
Such a move can include a sideways shift of up to half a base width. It is exempt from any requirement to pass a CMT to wheel or move less than full distance. It is not a charge, so is not subject to the restrictions that apply to charges. It is not affected by the restricted area of other enemy battle groups.
The last bullet is supposed to cover it. I cannot see any contradiction.RESTRICTED AREA
In the manoeuvre phase only, a battle group within 2 MU directly in front of an enemy battle group is considered to be pinned. It can only perform a limited number of actions:
o Advance directly towards that enemy battle group.
o Wheel towards that enemy battle group until its front is parallel to the enemy front, or wheel as far as it can towards such a position; advancing thereafter if it wishes to do so.
o Remain in place. (It can expand or turn, but not contract).
o Make a move that ends further away from that enemy battle group. (i.e. At the end of the move, the nearest point of the battle group is further away from the enemy battle group than its nearest point was at the start of the move.)
o Conform to an overlap position against another enemy battle group.
Sorry, I don't know what I was thinking here. There isn't a contradiction. I didn't read it carefully. Perhaps the sentence "It is not affected by the restricted area of other enemy battle groups." might be deleted. It is surplus to requirements and repeats the ruling in the resticted zone section. Perhaps it is the phrasing that one is positive "can do" and the other is a negative "not affected" that got to me.
I know there are those who like repeating rules in different sections. However, I think I am finding less content is better. Knowing that one section contains all the rules on a single topic is, I find, far easier than that nagging thought "I'm sure I've read more about this somewhere else".
