Sorry if this topic has already been dealt with, but I couldn't find it in the thread.

Lionel and I had a problem in our last game concerning the mounted troop light spear POA.

The table phrasing is : "against any troops if no other POAs (other POAs cancel out)"

Does it means that if the mounted troop with light spear has any other POA in its favour then this specific POA does'nt count ?

or that if the net result of all POA between the mounted troop and its opponent is 0 then this POA count ?

It might look obvious but not so much for a non native english-speaking player

If I understand, when a lancer impact against a light spear; Lancer stay at + or the light spear POA even out ?

The lancers stay at +.

The net POAs (without light spear) are not 0, so mounted light spear + does not apply.

What I had understood with this wording is that if YOU are at 0 you can apply the light spear bonus not if the sum are at 0.
In fact with my reading, the light spear can't add a second plus. And it was a bit strong

They can't unless the enemy also has a plus.

So:

Mounted light spear cavalry vs MF bowmen have + for fighting MF, the bows have no POA, so the cavalry have a net +. They cannot have another + for light spear, so fight at +. (Lancers would fight at ++).

Mounted light spear cavalry vs MF impact foot have + for fight MF. However the impact foot also have +, so the net POA is 0. Therefore the mounted light spear + counts, and hence the cavalry fight at +. (Lancers would also fight at +, unless the impact foot charged, in which case the lancers would have ++).
